Position Summary
StandardAero is seeking a dynamic and highly experienced
Senior Director, Global Trade
to lead the company’s global trade compliance function. This individual will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive trade compliance strategy that supports the company’s worldwide operations while ensuring strict adherence to all applicable international trade laws and regulations, including export controls, customs compliance, and sanctions regimes.
This role will serve as the senior-most trade compliance leader in the organization, advising executive leadership, managing a global team, and partnering cross-functionally to mitigate risk while enabling business growth.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
Set the vision and direction for StandardAero’s global trade compliance program.
Serve as the principal advisor to the executive team on trade compliance risks and opportunities.
Influence and align global policies with evolving regulatory landscapes and business needs.
Regulatory Compliance
Ensure company-wide compliance with U.S. and international trade laws, including ITAR, EAR, OFAC, and customs regulations.
Develop and maintain robust global trade compliance policies, procedures, and training programs.
Oversee licensing, classification, and jurisdiction determination activities.
Operational Execution
Manage import/export processes to support operational efficiency and timely product movement across borders.
Establish and monitor key metrics to ensure compliance performance and identify areas for improvement.
Partner with Supply Chain, Engineering, Legal, and Operations to proactively address compliance in business processes.
Risk Management & Investigations
Conduct risk assessments, internal audits, and compliance reviews.
Lead investigations into potential trade compliance violations and implement corrective actions.
Interface with regulatory authorities as needed.
Team Leadership
Lead, mentor, and develop a global team of trade compliance professionals.
Promote a culture of compliance, continuous improvement, and cross-functional collaboration.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in international business, law, or related field strongly preferred.
10+ years of progressive experience in global trade compliance, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
Deep knowledge of U.S. export/import regulations (ITAR, EAR, OFAC), customs compliance, and global trade requirements.
Proven experience building and scaling global trade programs across diverse geographies.
Strong business acumen with the ability to align compliance with operational priorities.
Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Preferred Characteristics
Aerospace, defense, or highly regulated industry experience strongly preferred.
