The Economic Development Director will lead the City’s economic development strategy, focusing on sustainable growth, business partnerships, and regional coordination. This position serves as a key champion of the City's strategic priority to promote prosperity, economic security, and mobility. Major Responsibilities
Lead implementation of the City's economic development strategy. Serve as the primary liaison to the Chamber, EDC, KU, and Douglas County. Promote business retention, site readiness, and industrial development. Manage incentive programs in compliance with City policies. Advance workforce development and innovation partnerships. Education & Experience (Required)
Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Substantial experience in economic development. Experience in business attraction, retention, and site development. Strong communication skills and political savvy. Education & Experience (Preferred)
Master’s degree in a related field. Familiarity with university-city economic initiatives. Compensation - $150,000 +/- DOE/DOQ Health Benefits - Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance. Paid Leave - Vacation, sick leave, holidays, and professional development time. Retirement - Kansas Public Employees Retirement System (KPERS) participation.
