Overview

The Marketing Strategist supports the planning, development, and implementation of marketing initiatives for a variety of departmental programs, campaigns, and events. Working as part of the marketing strategy team and in collaboration with campus partners and colleagues across Advancement, this role assists in executing integrated marketing plans that strengthen the University of Chicago’s brand, engage alumni, and advance philanthropic goals. Base pay range: $63,750.00/yr - $75,000.00/yr Department and About the Department

Department: ADV Marketing Strategies. The Advancement Office engages alumni, current students, parents, and friends of the University through intellectual, professional and social activities on campus, around the world and online. Advancement raises $600 Million annually to support faculty and researchers, practitioners and patients, and students and programs across the University. Marketing and Communications partners with colleagues within Advancement and across the University to advance ambitious goals in fundraising and constituent engagement. The team produces publications and donor-facing propositions, and will be a key partner in the upcoming campaign’s messaging, creative approach, and positioning. Responsibilities

Supports the development and execution of integrated marketing strategies in collaboration with cross-functional teams to advance organizational goals and engage target audiences. Assists in creating marketing plans for various initiatives, ensuring alignment with objectives, brand guidelines, and audience needs. Contributes to market and audience research to inform campaign planning. Helps track and analyze marketing performance data, preparing reports and optimization recommendations. Coordinates timelines, deliverables, and resources across multiple projects to ensure deadlines and successful campaign launches. Works with internal teams and external partners to execute marketing tactics (digital campaigns, print collateral, email communications, event promotions). Participates in content creation and updates for marketing channels (email, websites, social media, and other digital platforms). Maintains marketing tools and infrastructure (databases, digital asset libraries, project management systems). Supports planning and promotion of events and initiatives, ensuring consistent messaging and brand representation. Assists with managing relationships with external sales agencies as needed. Seeks opportunities for professional growth through webinars, trainings, and networking events. Develops marketing communications and materials with a moderate level of guidance; plans and coordinates development and production of materials within deadlines and budgets. Performs related marketing functions as needed. Qualifications

Education: Minimum a college/university degree in a related field (Bachelor’s or advanced degree preferred). Experience: Minimum 2-5 years in a related field; nonprofit management, alumni relations, marketing, public relations, or related areas; experience with data analysis and communicating complex topics to non-technical audiences; experience managing cross-team projects. Technical Skills: Familiarity with internal systems (e.g., Donor Relationship Management System) and Microsoft Office suite (Windows, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access). Preferred Competencies: Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to handle confidential information; integrity and professionalism; teamwork; initiative; ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail. Working Conditions: Hybrid schedule with weekly in-office presence; standard office environment; travel as needed; may work evenings and weekends; location: Hyde Park, 5235 South Harper Court.
