Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent

Minimum 2 years supervisory experience and minimum of 3 months as a manager trainee or similar

Experience in a thrift store environment

Must have people skills and organizational skills

Demonstrated ability to merchandise product and to produce effective sales

Ability to work with the public in a professional manner

Ability to mentor and train Clerks and volunteers

Customer service mindset

Team player with a spirit of cooperation and work with all others towards goals set by management

Valid Arizona Driver's license with clean MVR

Must be able to pass a criminal background check

Responsibilities

Ringing up sales on the cash register

Bagging purchases for the customers

Keeping sales floor clean and free of debris

Oversee in unloading donations

Assist customers with loading merchandise

Return sales items to the proper place when moved by customers

Oversee the pricing and displaying of items for sale

Answering customer questions or concerns with courtesy

Answering thrift store telephone

Writing up pick-up receipts and giving them to the driver

Responsible for promptly reporting to immediate supervisor all accidents, personal injury, or property damage

Oversee sorters, warehouse workers and truck drivers with their duties when deemed necessary and assigned by the thrift store manager

Ensure smooth running of all store operations - from customer relations to stocking of new product

Ensure store always looks presentable and free of debris

Follow all daily income handling procedures, including POS procedures, policies for counting and banking income

Ensure current work schedules are posted at the store and sent to Corps Officers and HR.

Ensure timecards are accurate, signed and submitted in a timely manner

Work with staff to ensure all sales associates responsibilities are accomplished, engaging in that process also

Be creative in setting up promotional and sales displays

Make achieving higher sales a continual process, encouraging staff and thereby making it a team effort

Continue to learn from other companies better and/or best way of marketing and making more sales

Ensure all mark down and rag out polices are adhered to

Ensure OSHA guidelines are followed

Act as a personal representative of The Salvation Army, supporting its mission, treat all customers and/or donors courteously

Cover Pickups on Tuesdays and Thursdays (26 foot truck) when needed.

All other duties as assigned by direct supervisor as they relate to the position of Thrift Store Manager

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must have the ability to operate telephone, a desktop or laptop computer, as well as the ability to access and produce information from a computer, and to understand written information.
