Capital Equipment Procurement Manager

The Capital Equipment Procurement Manager is responsible for planning, budgeting, strategic sourcing, supply chain management, supplier performance, and stakeholder management for critical equipment and professional services categories. This role develops long-term strategies aligned with key stakeholders and Global Procurement leaders to drive results that support QTS’s market leadership. Responsibilities
Critical Equipment Planning Analyze capital plans to determine required equipment and services, establish OFCI equipment budgets, and build rolling 36-month procurement plans aligned with sales projections. Provide accurate cost and schedule data to Development Program Managers to support budget approvals and project planning. Provide weekly procurement status updates, progress, and recommendations to executives to align with business objectives. Evaluate new infrastructure technologies with partners to balance cost, availability, reliability, and efficiency in standard offerings. Strategic Procurement Analyze category spend, research market trends, and deploy strategic plans with KPIs. Categories include, but are not limited to: Gas Turbines, Backup Reciprocating Engines, Mobile Power Deployment. Ensure adherence to QTS policies and continuously improve processes to drive procurement performance. Collaborate with Global Procurement leaders to align category strategies. Data and Data Integrity Document processes, definitions, and trainings; partner with the training department to publish materials. Identify strategies to improve procurement initiatives, speed to market, quality, and total cost of ownership. Assess risk, manage supply continuity, and develop contingency plans. Lead ongoing category management to meet business objectives and benefit targets. Develop RFP packages and lead competitive sourcing to protect QTS interests. Support sales by providing competitive NRC costing as requested. Construction Project Support Develop construction-related contracts and monitor market conditions to ensure timely OFCI equipment ordering. Resolve technical and commercial issues with subject matter experts and implement corrective actions. Distribute up-to-date design standards to OFCI suppliers and obtain submittals to support design and approval processes. Stakeholder and Supplier Management Develop and monitor supplier KPIs; continuously evaluate performance to drive improvements. Ensure contracted obligations are met and conduct periodic business reviews. Collaborate with Site Operations, Suppliers, and Finance to resolve issues and drive process improvements; travel to sites and events as needed to build relationships. Order Process Coordination Manage day-to-day OFCI supply chain administration and provide ad-hoc support for difficult-to-source equipment, parts, and services. Qualifications
Basic Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Administration, Management, Operations, Finance, or related field; or 5+ years of equivalent experience in Sourcing, Procurement, Project Management, and/or Engineering. Preferred 8+ years in global supply chain management, project management, category management, strategic sourcing, and vendor management across multiple categories. Experience developing long-range sourcing plans to reduce total costs and optimize supplier value. Data center or critical infrastructure industry experience (Facility Management, Critical Electrical/Mechanical Equipment, Construction Design/Construction, Professional Services). Experience leading organizational change initiatives. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Conflict resolution and problem-solving; relationship-building with stakeholders; strategic analysis; and ability to manage multiple initiatives across entities.
