The Senior Director/VP of Project Development focuses on leading and overseeing complex geothermal development projects from early-stage through full project contract execution. The role combines business development, stakeholder management, technical engineering knowledge, regulatory expertise, and financial acumen to navigate geothermal project development. It involves direct client engagement, cross-functional team leadership, strategic analysis, and comprehensive project oversight throughout the development process. Base pay range

Lead and oversee complex geothermal development projects from early-stage origination through contract execution with built environment clients. Engage directly with end-customers (C&I, municipal utilities, institutions, community solar, ESCOs, etc.) to understand needs and tailor development strategies. Coordinate cross-functional teams (engineering, finance, regulatory, construction) to meet timelines, budgets, and performance goals. Communicate project development process clearly at all phases to align internal teams and external stakeholders. Develop strategic stakeholder engagement plans, including presentations for clients, community entities, and institutions. Maintain long-term relationships with project beneficiaries to serve as the “go-to” energy solutions provider. Translate technical data from drilling reports, feasibility studies, and thermal conductivity analyses into actionable insights. Articulate financial models including CAPEX, OPEX, and ROI for internal leadership and external stakeholders. Identify and leverage incentives and grants, including federal, state, and local programs to improve project economics. Drive business development efforts, including proposal reviews, client meetings, presentations, and closing deals. Contribute to senior leadership decisions, providing insight on geothermal pipeline development and organizational growth strategy. Travel up to 25% across the Northeast; position follows a hybrid model with at least 3+ days/week in-office. Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum 10-15 years of professional experience in supervisory, sales, project management, project implementation, or similar fields. Background in renewable energy project development, real estate development, MEP engineering, environmental engineering, construction project management, architecture, or a comparable field. Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical, engineering, financial, and regulatory documents (e.g., drilling reports, cost estimates, thermal conductivity reports, site plans, specification packages, grants). Demonstrated expertise in navigating complex approval processes. Proven ability to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders, technical disciplines, and regulatory requirements. Experience managing client-facing projects to a schedule. Proficiency with project management software, CRM and communication platforms for performance tracking and cross-functional collaboration.
