Job Description The purpose of this job is to oversee the operations excellence department, delivering organization-wide technology improvement, process improvement, store leadership training, store opening support and increasing operational efficiencies.
Oversee, lead, and set priorities for the Operations excellence team
Select, coach, train, and develop direct reports, to include appraising job performance and conducting performance reviews
Collaborate with the executive leadership team to create project plans and solutions for resolution of operational and cultural issues across the organization
Collaborate with leadership for implementation of operational safety practices at Pilot Flying J including prevention/awareness, training, research and analysis, compliance, response/remediation, and emergency response
Coordinate with all Field and Sales and Support Center (SSC) departments to ensure store projects are completed in alignment with established guidelines
Lead the strategic and cultural process to identify support opportunities (e.g., new technology) that will increase operational efficiency, effectiveness, and ROI
Lead benchmarking efforts for programs and initiatives related to operational efficiency
Responsible for utilization of labor analysis data in scheduling allocation, development and maintenance of labor models, and development and review of labor standards
Oversee the administration of the company’s operational systems including maintenance and enhancements
Collaborate with company communication and merchandising teams for all communication and reporting requests directed at stores
Provide oversight of the guest services index administration
Collaborate with the learning and development team on the delivery of general manager leadership development training, region manager leadership academy, and other operations-related training programs
Manage department budget
Model behaviors that support the company’s common purpose; ensure guests and team members are supported at the highest level
Ensure all activities are in compliance with rules, regulations, policies and procedures
Complete other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business or operations management required
Master’s degree in business administration preferred
Minimum ten years’ above store operational experience required
Project management certification preferred
Intermediate Microsoft Office skills
In-depth proprietary systems knowledge and proficiency
Experience with high-level data analysis and making daily decisions regarding budgets and planning
Ability to apply critical thinking skills to business problems that are data driven and people focused
Excellent verbal and written communications skills including presentation skills
Ability to lead and motivate a team
Ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization
Ability to analyze data and present solutions
Ability to analyze problems and identify solutions
Superior planning skills in order to prioritize and balance multiple changing projects simultaneously · Strong project management skills
