Job Description The UC San Diego Department of Neurological Surgery is a leading neurosurgical center offering opportunities in clinical services, education, and research. The Beaumont and Furnari labs conduct translational cancer research focusing on brain tumor epigenomics, chromatin remodeling, and precision oncology, utilizing high-throughput sequencing and computational biology approaches. The Research Data Analyst I will assist with computational pipelines for epigenomic data analysis in cancer research, support biologists and clinicians in multidisciplinary projects, and help prepare data for publication and dissemination. Tasks include analysis of next-generation sequencing data (RNA-seq, scRNA-seq, ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq) using Python and R, data management and archiving, creating figures for publications, depositing data to public servers (GEO), and developing GUI tools for data analysis. Collaboration with spatial computing experts to map epigenomic data in brain reference space; may perform additional duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

Assist with computational support for translational cancer research projects.

Develop bioinformatics tools and methodologies for multimodal epigenomic data analysis.

Prepare data and results for publication or dissemination (databases, websites, notebooks, etc.).

Analyze next-generation sequencing data (bulk RNA-seq, scRNA-seq, ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq) using Python and R; utilize local supercomputer resources.

Manage and archive large-scale datasets; create figures for publications; deposit data to public repositories (e.g., GEO).

Develop graphical user interfaces (GUI) for data analysis and collaborate with spatial computing experts on epigenomic maps.
