Overview
Professional Development Manager (Minneapolis, MN) (#3995) at Dorsey & Whitney LLP. We are seeking a Professional Development Manager to lead the daily operations of our in-house training and development function, guide a Professional Development team, and oversee the budget that powers our training initiatives. Working closely with Firm leadership, legal departments, and administrative teams, you’ll ensure the delivery of innovative, high-quality programming that fosters attorney development, maintains CLE compliance, and advances client-focused initiatives. This is a hybrid role; the candidate must have the ability to work up to five days per week in the office as needed to efficiently and effectively produce and oversee live training programs. Responsibilities
Manage, inspire, and motivate high-performing members of the Professional Development team to excel in their roles handling logistics for Firm-produced and -hosted CLE and other training programs. Supervisory duties include training, development, mentoring, coaching, and evaluating performance. Manage the daily workloads and tasks of the Professional Development team to ensure flawless and professional production of internal and external CLEs and other training programs; back up team members’ duties as needed. Collaborate with legal and administrative departments across the firm to present live and virtual training programs (whether designed for small or target department groups or promoted firm wide) to meet training and business needs. Oversee all processes related to planning and presenting live, virtual, and hybrid training programs, with an eye towards efficiency, process improvement, and superb audience experience. Work with the Professional Development Director to plan and implement annual Professional Development budget administration strategy and timeline. Plan, implement and supervise processes related to payment of all Professional Development expenses and reimbursements throughout the year. Work with Senior CLE Specialist to research and review rules and regulations for CLE accreditation in various states and provinces and identify programs eligible for CLE credit; manage the firm’s CLE application, tracking and approval processes to ensure Dorsey maintains its CLE “Accredited Provider” status in select jurisdictions. Work with the Senior CLE Specialist to respond to internal and external questions regarding CLE processes, cycles and accreditation matters. Contribute to special projects as requested, including new initiatives and technology and significant Firm events, like Firm anniversaries or retreats. May perform other responsibilities as assigned. What We’re Looking For
Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communications, human resources, education, or related field. Experience at a professional services firm (preferably law firms in the AmLaw 100 or 200). At least 5 years of management/supervisory experience. Strong people management skills. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral. Excellent consultative and consensus-building skills. Excellent project management skills. Ability to organize, prioritize, and coordinate multiple and complex projects with the ability to meet deadlines under intense time constraints. Professional, independent, strategic thinker with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to offer constructive opinions and creative solutions. Experience with budget administration. Experience with Windows operating system, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Outlook. While this is a hybrid role, the ability to work in the office up to five days per week as needed to oversee or participate in the production of live and hybrid CLE and other training programs. Ability to travel to other Firm offices and retreat locations, as needed. Preferred
