Overview The Mission Operations Director is responsible for the operational execution of all short-term mission (STM), international vision engagement (VE) trips and disaster relief trips. This role develops and deploys systems, manages logistics and budget, builds partnerships, equips serve staff, develops apprentices and interns, collaborates for efficient systems with other Central ministries and ensures seamless sending processes that accelerate the church’s vision to equip and send disciples locally and globally.

Responsibilities

Oversee the logistics and systems required to send all STM, disaster relief and VE trips

Develop and maintain SOPs, timelines, leader materials and packing lists

Manage trip registration, payment processes, participant communication and trip documentation

Equip and lead logistical serve staff

Collaborate with Missions Engagement Pastor to align operational execution with strategy

Track and report metrics, team data and outcomes for all trips

Oversee Mission Trips (Mtrips) budget

Ensure all trips align with budget, risk management policies and legal requirements

Own the full operational lifecycle of STM, VE and disaster relief trips from pre-trip planning through post-trip debrief and reporting

Develop and maintain scalable systems for trip budgeting, timelines, international travel logistics, documentation and risk management

Manage the centralized trip calendar, ensuring alignment with campus rhythms and overall church sending priorities

Ensure trip systems are reproducible, compliant with legal and safety standards and designed for growth

Proactively assess and resolve operational gaps, improving systems for speed, quality and effectiveness

Recruit, coach and equip staff, residents, apprentices and serve staff to do ministry that effectively mobilizes and equips the congregation for short-term mission

Execute the training and coaching of trip leaders and participants

Foster collaboration with campuses and other ministries (1825/Senior Adults/Eleven22Students/Eleven22 Kids/Vision Engagement) to leverage short-term mission as a catalyst for discipleship and spiritual growth

Training and equipping — In partnership with Mission Engagement Pastor, develop and deploy digital and in-person programs for trip participants, leaders and partners to ensure theological, cultural and practical preparedness

In partnership with Mission Engagement Pastor, develop and deploy Vision Engagement trip resources (guidebooks, etc.) and oversee the content development and implementation for Vision Engagement trips

In partnership with Mission Engagement Pastor, develop and deploy resources and equipping tools that enhance discipleship engagement before, during and after mission trips

Ensure ongoing assessments and improvements to the short-term sending experience and Vision Engagement experience, prioritizing evangelism and discipleship

Cross ministry Collaboration

Collaborate with the Mission Engagement Pastor, Local Mission Director and Vision Engagement lead to ensure operational and strategic alignment

Collaborate with Senior Adults, Eleven22 Students and 1825 to ensure sending strategies support ongoing discipleship of members and leaders

Participate in team rhythms for evaluation, debrief and continuous improvement

Provide reports, metrics and updates on sending activity to support broader campus engagement and decision-making

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree preferred

3-5 years of experience in organizational leadership, including strategic planning, budget management and team development

5-7 years of experience in ministry, with emphasis on missions, volunteer recruitment and leadership development

Proven track record of developing and implementing discipleship-based programs and mission engagement strategies

Position Type and Hours This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work may vary based on church needs. The church has several big events, (“All-Skates”) throughout the year to help further the mission of Eleven22. These events are mandatory for all staff to be in attendance and may vary, depending on the vision cast for the current year.

Work Environment This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.

Ministerial Exception The ministerial exception furthers the purposes of the Free Exercise and Establishment Clauses of the First Amendment by barring legal claims against church bodies by staff members who perform religious functions. All church pastors are subject to the exception, but a formal ministerial credential is not required. While there is no rigid formula to determine other church staff members that qualify, various factors are considered to determine which staff members are subject to the ministerial exception. Staff members who qualify under the ministerial exception are not covered by federal and state employment and anti-discrimination laws.
