The position may be in Juneau or Anchorage, depending upon the location of the most qualified candidate.

What You Will Be Doing Take charge of 18 health centers, two labs, and the State Medical Examiner’s Office. As Facilities Manager 2, you’ll oversee capital planning, manage construction procurements, and shape the Department of Health’s 10-year facility strategy. Be the voice of DOH on the Statewide Facilities Council and drive real infrastructure impact across Alaska.

Mission and Values/Culture: The mission of the Department of Health is to promote the health, well-being, and self-sufficiency of all Alaskans. Within the department, the division of Administrative Support Services provides expertise, guidance, and training to the department in key administrative areas, including finance, budgeting, procurement, grants, facilities, human resources, audits, and information technology.

Work schedules are flexible but must fall within regular business hours, Monday through Friday. A hybrid telework schedule is possible.

The Working Environment You Can Expect In Anchorage, we are located on the 2nd floor of the Frontier Building at 3601 C Street. In Juneau, our office is located on the 3rd floor of the Alaska Office Building at 350 Main Street. Our section includes nine (9) procurement specialists and 12 grant administrators located in Anchorage and Juneau. Travel may be required to conduct on-site visits for specific projects.

Minimum Qualifications Competency-Based Minimum Qualifications Instructions

This job class uses competency-based minimum qualifications. Equivalent to those typically gained by any combination of preparatory post-secondary education and/or progressively responsible experience in facility management, public or business administration, planning, design, architecture, engineering, construction or maintenance, project or cost management or a closely related field.

Definitions:

"Competencies" means a combination of interrelated knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors. "Typically gained by" describes common pathways to gain competencies. "Training" and "education" refer to instruction through various methods and durations.
