The Pro Shop Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the pro shop and golf course, including sales, marketing, and customer service functions. This role plays a key part in membership acquisition and retention efforts, ensuring a high-quality experience for both members and guests. Acting as a primary representative of the golf course and broader community, the Pro Shop Manager builds strong relationships with members, visiting golfers, local groups, associations, and neighboring communities. In addition, they collaborate closely with the General Manager on all golf-related matters to support the overall success of the community. Job Duties
Initiates and coordinates special events for golfers (i.e. glow ball tournament, merchandise show, and themed tournaments). (Essential) Supervises the daily condition, appearance and maintenance of the cart bar, pro shop and rental carts. Ensures rental carts are cleaned, charged and stored properly. (Essential) Markets memberships, tournaments, and special rates within the community as well as to golfers of other area communities, clubs, organizations, associations and daily fee players. (Essential) Coordinates team member selection and development and ensures team members comply with appropriate policies and procedures. Prepares comparison studies with other area courses at least 3 times/year to gather information on upkeep of courses, maintenance standards, course playability, and any other factors that impact the golf on the course. Establishes budget targets in conjunction with General Manager for membership play as well as daily play (green/cart fees). Stays current on pricing of other courses (daily play rates, specials, membership rates, etc.). Solicits, coordinates, and schedules tee times for tournaments, memberships, outside play, and special functions. Assists club members in scheduling and running tournaments as needed. Enforces the rules of the golf club and arbitrates golf rules per the PGA rule book. Assists golfers in familiarizing themselves with our facility. Assists club members in posting scores. Tracks number of rounds played daily, weekly, and monthly by membership. Handles and resolves golfers' complaints, inquiries, and issues in a timely and professional manner. Pricing merchandise competitively and displays merchandise attractively. Sells merchandise and establishes budget targets, in conjunction with the General Manager. Orders merchandise as needed, ensuring to stay within budgetary guidelines. Coordinates sales events (i.e. end-of-season sales, holiday related sales, etc.). Markets and prepares special orders for members. Ensures catalogues are available and prominently displayed. Oversees and communicates with golf course contractors to ensure proper maintenance. Reports all golf course and pro shop maintenance issues and concerns directly to the General Manager and/or maintenance. Other duties as assigned. Requirements
High School Diploma or GED (Required) 6 months of previous merchandising and/or sales experience (Required) Thorough knowledge and understanding of the rules and strategies of the game of golf Excellent verbal and written communication skills Good problem solving skills Professional appearance Basic computer proficiency, including the ability to use email and internet Must have a valid driver's license Rewarding Benefits
