Day-to-day responsibilities Investigate and gather physical evidence and testimony from defendants, complainants, witnesses, informants, staff members, or offenders. Conduct criminal investigations and provide reports, information, and criminal intelligence to appropriate agencies. Collect, recover, and accurately label items considered evidence for future use in internal or external cases. Inspect the facility to identify security concerns and ensure compliance with applicable regulations and ACA standards. Participate in trials, provide testimony as an expert witness, and testify in court hearings. Observe offender activities and movements to report issues. Train employees to clarify role responsibilities and expectations, and provide corrective actions and professional development opportunities. Establish and maintain good relationships with local law enforcement and prosecutors. Note: The job profile is not an exhaustive list of duties and responsibilities. You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment: High School Diploma or High School Equivalency (HSE). Four (4) years of full-time experience in investigative work, law enforcement, corrections, or military police; at least two (2) years must be investigative work. Completion of a government-sanctioned investigative training program may substitute for one (1) year of experience (proof of completion must accompany application). Must test negative on all drug screenings. Considerable knowledge of the principles, techniques, and terminology of current investigative practices and security procedures. Working knowledge of Federal laws, Indiana codes, and Department of Correction policies and procedures. Working knowledge of due process, criminal and civil liability. Benefits
