Overview
Specialty Assistant Store Manager in Training (SASM-IT)
will gain hands-on experience in the key responsibilities and functions of a Specialty Assistant Store Manager at The Home Depot. The SASM-IT training program includes hands-on experience, mentorship, and leadership development. During training, you will become familiar with Manager on Duty responsibilities and oversight of the Specialty and Pro Departments. You will learn to develop and implement strategies that boost sales, enhance customer service, and drive profitability across Specialty, Pro, and Services businesses, in collaboration with the Store Manager, Assistant Store Managers (ASMs), Home Services, and Pro business partners. SASM-ITs are expected to lead by example and uphold all lawful company policies. The SASM-IT training period is up to 6 weeks and will focus on executing SASM key responsibilities. Key Responsibilities
50% Training and Preparing for Assistant Manager Position - Participate in a structured training program covering all aspects of retail store management (operations, customer service, sales & profitability, and company policies). Learn and demonstrate tactics to support accountability: staffing and scheduling, identifying and resolving stock deficiencies, supervising associates in selling behaviors, resolving customer issues, and supporting service needs for installed sales/special orders and product sales. Learn and demonstrate the performance management process, including review of associate performance and how to execute the associate disciplinary process when necessary. Complete all assigned training modules and assessments. 15% Customer Experience - Supervise Associates in selling efforts, model GET culture, drive customer service and associate engagement, and ensure customer concerns are resolved promptly. 15% Sales and Productivity - Plan merchandise placement, signing, and support stock integrity through inventory management. Learn to maintain and operate store equipment and systems and manage daily financial operations. 10% Operations Management - Perform Opening, Closing MOD and other store-wide responsibilities. Adhere to all policies and procedures, hold associates accountable, follow SOPs (especially safety) and mitigate shrink. 10% Safety - Ensure self and associates follow all safety and hazmat procedures and Safety Matters guidelines at all times. Must be eighteen years of age or older Must be legally permitted to work in the United States Preferred Qualifications
