Overview

The Senior Housing & Logistics Specialist leads efforts to secure and coordinate the furnishing of safe, sanitary, and affordable housing for newly arriving immigrants and refugees and helps reduce barriers to housing security for longer-term clients. They build partnerships and relationships with property owners, public and subsidized housing entities, transitional housing, shelters, and apartment furnishing resources within the service delivery area. Responsibilities

Establish partnerships with shelters, property owners and managers, building strong working relationships with the goal of increasing access to housing for refugee families and coordinating client home repair requests as needed. Collaborate effectively with coworkers and partner organizations to support a positive initial resettlement experience and achievement of client self-sufficiency; Establish local procurement relationships and inventory management protocols in accordance with IRC and donor requirements through purchasing and in-kind donations; Develop and utilize a wide range of housing resource options, coordinate aspects of housing procurement, communicate information to caseworkers, inform staff of changes, and support volunteers when they participate in the arrival process. Identify and secure safe, sanitary, and affordable housing for newly arriving refugees in compliance with established program requirements and follow up on referrals to potential housing partners or follow up with referrals to assisting housing partners; Organize the setup of housing, including coordinating signing of leases or shelter intake and enrollment, ordering furniture and supplies and arranging delivery, arranging utility hook-ups, facilitating lease signings and renewals, arranging payments, and conducting home safety inspections; Deliver housing orientations to clients; may support other pre- and post-arrival activities such as airport pick-ups; Satisfy recordkeeping requirements; complete case notes related to all housing activities and ensure reporting requirements are met; Make recommendations for continuous improvement in related areas; Participate in all program and office meetings, staff development activities, and other duties as assigned by their Supervisor; Work as part of a team to provide comprehensive strength-based services to IRC clients through coordination of case support and effective communication between team members and departments; Use personal, insured vehicle and/or public transportation (where available) to travel and transport clients and materials as needed throughout the service delivery area; May train and lead the activities of support staff, volunteers, and interns; Other duties as assigned. Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred. Work Experience: Minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience required; Experience working with refugee and/or immigrant populations preferred. Demonstrated Skills & Competencies: Strong relationship building, diplomacy, and networking skills; ability to effectively build internal and external relationships; demonstrated ability to manage complex logistics involving multiple stakeholders within a limited timeframe; proven success working and communicating effectively in a multi-cultural environment; self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills combined with the proven ability to multi-task, prioritize duties, and manage time effectively; superb organization, planning, and logistical skills; attention to detail and accuracy in work product; ability to regularly lift ~50 lbs; fluent in English; bilingual ability in another language is helpful; proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook); ability to use the internet and other digital tools for data entry, research and problem-solving purposes; valid driver’s license and access to a personal, insured vehicle. Working Environment

A combination of standard office environment, remote work, and ‘field’ time within the service delivery area to perform the above outlined responsibilities; may require occasional weekend and/or evening work. Compensation

Compensation: (Pay Range: $25.00 - $30.00) Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget.
