Jan 2026 – Jun 2026 (FTE) Who We Are Looking For: This opportunity is ideal for individuals interested in contributing to our team as a Product Design Engineer intern within State Street’s Global Technology Services organization. Our technology function, Global Technology Services (GTS), is vital to State Street and is the key enabler for our business to deliver data and insights to our clients. We’re driving the company’s digital transformation and expanding business capabilities using industry best practices and advanced technologies. What You Will Do: In this role, you will perform the following day-to-day activities: Translate Figma designs into responsive, interactive UI components using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

Build and maintain scalable front-end applications using React (and optionally Angular or Vue.js).

Collaborate with designers and back-end developers to ensure seamless integration and user experience.

Prioritize accessibility and usability by adhering to WCAG/EAA guidelines.

Contribute to the State Street Design System and component library.

Participate in testing, debugging, and iterative improvements of UI features.

Stay current with emerging front-end technologies and design trends.

Familiarity with TypeScript and modern build tools (Webpack, Vite)

Ability to optimize performance for data-heavy applications.

Strong communication skills and ownership mindset in cross-functional teams.

Bonus: Exposure to financial services interfaces and workflows.

Support user research activities such as interviews, surveys, and usability testing to gather insights from financial professionals.

Help create wireframes, mockups, and prototypes using tools like Figma and Adobe Creative Suite.

Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and senior designers to understand design requirements and contribute ideas.

Contribute to the maintenance and expansion of the design system, including component libraries in Figma.

Apply basic principles of typography, layout, and visual hierarchy to organize complex financial data.

Learn and apply accessibility standards (ADA/WCAG) to ensure inclusive design practices.

Participate in Agile/Scrum workflows and attend design reviews and sprint planning sessions.

Explore emerging technologies like AI and their potential impact on financial UX/UI design.

Present design concepts and research findings to team members, incorporating feedback to improve solutions.
