The focus of the Global Development (GD) division is to help deliver targeted healthcare solutions in the developing world, with emphasis on Polio Eradication, Immunization, Primary Healthcare, Global Health Agencies and Funds, Emergency Response, and country work in Africa and India. Immunization is a core priority, and the Immunization Program Strategy Team (PST) works to ensure vaccines and immunization are effectively prioritized and delivered, contributing to IA2030. Your Role

The Senior Program Officer will support the Gavi, Partners, and Special Initiatives sub-team within the Immunization PST. This role is responsible for managing the foundation’s grant to the Gavi Alliance, supporting engagement with the Gavi Alliance Board and governance structures, coordinating and helping set foundation priorities for Gavi engagement, and working with Gavi Alliance partners to shape implementation of Gavi’s 2026-2030 strategy. The role requires collaboration with technical and donor stakeholders, including Gavi Board members and constituencies, and cross-foundation coordination with Immunization and other teams to stay current on programmatic challenges and opportunities. The Senior Program Officer will ensure links with foundation engagement in entities such as Global Fund, GPEI, and the Global Financing Facility, provide strategic analysis and briefings for senior foundation engagement in Gavi governance bodies, and report updates at quarterly Co-Chair reviews. The position is a 9-month Limited Term Employment based in Seattle, WA, with no relocation support. What You’ll Do

Serve as a foundation focal point for Gavi engagement and lead the design and implementation of Gavi-related activities, including elements of Gavi’s 2026-30 strategy. Coordinate with internal Immunization sub-teams and other divisions to monitor programmatic challenges requiring stakeholder engagement. Develop, finalize, and manage the foundation’s 2026-30 grant to Gavi, including grant requirements and performance objectives; may manage related grants and contracts. Lead and coordinate preparation for Gavi governance deliberations, including drafting briefs and policy analysis, and engagement with external governance stakeholders such as Gavi Secretariat staff, donors, partners, and implementing countries. Foster cross-foundation collaboration among major global health initiatives (Gavi, Global Fund, GPEI) and consider future evolution of the global health architecture. Assist in planning and preparation of meetings with foundation leadership to discuss progress, challenges, and issues related to the foundation’s single largest investment. Participate in Immunization annual planning, strategy reviews, team meetings, and monitoring; write background documents and policy-focused analyses; ensure high-quality internal and external communications. Be accountable for achieving results under the Immunization strategy and be available to travel up to 20% of time. Your Experience

Prior experience engaging with Gavi (e.g., donor, partner, implementer, Gavi staff) strongly desired. Advanced degree or equivalent experience in public policy or public health preferred. Minimum of 7 years of experience in public affairs and/or global health, preferably including immunization. Strong collaboration skills and ability to navigate complex organizations and political contexts; capacity to work with high-level stakeholders. Strategic thinker with strong written and oral communication skills; initiative to solve unstructured problems with rigor and persistence. Experience managing a diverse portfolio and prioritizing multiple projects; highly organized and efficient. Excellent representational skills; able to engage comfortably with senior colleagues internally and externally. Experience in developing countries is a plus. Must be legally eligible to work in the country where the position is located without visa sponsorship. Salary:

The salary range for this role is $169,700 to $254,500 USD. Seattle and Washington, D.C. locations have different ranges. New hires are typically within the range minimum to midpoint, based on skills and experience. Hiring Requirements
