Marathon TS is seeking an experienced data engineer to support our client. This role is responsible for building and maintaining the data pipelines and data services that sit on top of a defined infrastructure layer. The data engineer will focus on transforming raw, distributed data into accessible, analysis-ready formats that power machine learning, analytics, and real-time applications.

This is a hands-on, execution-focused position where you will be expected to work independently while collaborating closely with data scientists and developers to ensure reliable and scalable data delivery across the stack.

Key Responsibilities Design, build, and maintain data pipelines that transform, clean, and structure data for downstream use Develop and manage the data services layer, including APIs and interfaces that enable real-time and batch data access Integrate diverse data sources, both structured and unstructured, into unified and accessible formats Work with the Data Scientist to provide training and inference-ready datasets Support AI/ML model deployment by ensuring pipelines align with production needs and performance requirements Monitor and continuously improve the efficiency, reliability, and scalability of data workflows

Required Qualifications

5-10 years of experience in data engineering, with a focus on pipeline development and data integration Strong proficiency in Python and SQL, along with experience using tools like Airflow, Spark, or dbt Proven ability to deliver robust, scalable solutions using cloud-based data services (Azure) Expertise in transforming and validating large-scale datasets across a variety of formats and sources Comfortable owning the full lifecycle of data pipeline development and data delivery Strong communication and collaboration skills across technical roles

Preferred Qualifications

Experience supporting DoD or other federal government clients Familiarity with secure, compliant, or classified data environments Exposure to real-time or event-driven data technologies (e.g., Kafka, Azure Event Hubs) Experience building APIs or services that enable data access for AI and application teams
