No remote teaching opportunities are available at this time. Position Summary:
As a member of the CEWD healthcare team, the adjunct instructor provides didactic and hands-on skills instruction for a 73 contact hour dental assisting course and/or a 36 contact hour Oral Radiography course, including up to 10 hours of clinical training at Maryland State Dental Association in Columbia, MD. The instructor has flexibility in teaching methods while meeting educational requirements and prepares students for the DANB NELDA and RHS exams. The role requires sensitivity to diverse backgrounds and commitment to student success. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Facilitate instruction to meet course objectives Teach core skills related to Dental Assisting Evaluate student progress and provide remediation as needed Prepare students for NELDA and RHS exams Supervise and evaluate students during skills labs Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community Participate in professional development activities Required Minimum Qualifications:
Three years of experience as a Dental Assistant, Dental Hygienist, or Dentist Proof of current license or certification (e.g., DANB, CDA, RHS, or dental practice license) Desired Qualifications:
Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) certification Ability to engage diverse learning styles in classroom instruction Prior teaching experience Proficiency in chairside and lab dental assisting skills Excellent communication skills Experience with Blackboard or similar LMS Additional Information:
