Function/Duties of Position

The Department of Pediatrics at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) School of Medicine invites applications and nominations for the position of Head of the Division of Pediatric Pulmonology & Sleep Medicine. The position is for a full-time Pediatric Pulmonologist who is currently at Associate Professor or Professor Level. The ideal candidate will have established leadership experience and a strong desire to promote the advancement of the Division in the areas of clinical care, scholarship and education. The Head of the Division of Pediatric Pulmonology is the chief academic and administrative officer of the Division. There are substantial opportunities awaiting the new Division Head.

At the Direction of the Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics, the Division Head will create a unifying vision that moves the Division forward in all mission areas. The Division of Pediatric Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine boasts a strong clinical program comprised of a team of 6 pulmonologists, 3 sleep physicians, and 2 Advance Practice Providers who work collaboratively to deliver clinical excellence. The division has the major accredited Pediatric Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Center in Oregon/Southwest Washington (240 patients), with active participation in the CF Therapeutics Development Network and the CF Learning Network. The division also provides a full complement of services including state of the art PFT laboratories, a Sleep Section/Center, bronchoscopy services and Aerodigestive Center, and a developing BPD Center. In addition to joining an active clinical program, the ideal candidate will bring emphasis to scholarship in the division.

Doernbecher Children’s Hospital at OHSU is the teaching hospital for pediatrics in the state of Oregon with a full complement of sub-specialists and many fellowship programs

The duties of this position beyond leadership of the division include :

Clinical: Provides excellent clinical care in the outpatient, inpatient, and m ight include outpatient outreach locations. Education: Teaches residents, medical students and all trainees and support staff. Scholarship: Opportunities for scholarly research that result in improved clinical practice, understanding, detecting and treating diseases or improving the education foundation within pediatric pulmonology are available and strongly encouraged. Other duties: Administrative and advocacy duties may also be assigned or sought within the hospital or academic department.

Required Qualifications

Licensed MD and eligible for license in the states of Oregon and Washington. Board certification or eligibility for specialty board certification in Pediatrics Pulmonology Completion of an accredited Pediatric Residency and a Pediatric Pulmonology fellowship. Demonstrated competence in research, clinical care and teaching.
