Overview

JOB SUMMARY With minimal direct oversight, this position will be responsible for overseeing and supporting the development of individual and/or complex funding proposals through effective interaction with all involved parties and by providing proposal management, proposal editing and/or writing integration service, and program and budget development support. This position reports directly to the Director of Research Strategy. Responsibilities

Partners with key stakeholders in departments to design and implement research strategies to increase successful research portfolio. Work collaboratively with faculty members to provide research strategy for proposals and writes or provides writing support for non-scientific/technical sections for complex and individual grant applications; provides comprehensive editorial review of all sections; and independently advises principal investigators on proposal strategy, content, and organization. Oversee and support the development of multiple, simultaneous, complex, individual funding proposals through strategic interactions with faculty and providing proposal management, and facilitates additional individual, less complex (led by single investigator) grants. Provide a high-impact level of mentorship/expertise to faculty and other personnel as well as integrated knowledge in project management, science, scientific communication/editing, sponsor requirements, UT Southwestern resources, and reviewer preferences. Act as a subject matter expert on complex grants and guide Research Development Associates in facilitating and submitting basic and complex grants. Manage and coordinate the proposal development process, working with individuals at various levels across the organization to ensure successful integration of all parts and full compliance with all funding solicitation and sponsor requirements. Provide drafts and/or templates of non-scientific sections, such as education and outreach and administrative/management plans. Proactively develop resources for faculty and other research staff and contribute to updates and maintenance of institutional resource template materials. Contributes to updates and maintenance of website and other resources. Demonstrate ability to organize, analyze, and interpret complex scientific, medical, or technical data. May provide some analytical/graphics needed for applications. Balance the needs of multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, often deadline-driven environment where priorities change in response to external needs and opportunities. Provide offerings in formal programs to enhance the opportunity for larger audiences to expand their knowledge of grant writing. Facilitate key meetings in collaboration with faculty to ensure research agenda is moving forward. This includes strategy facilitation, goal and role clarity workshops, and team effectiveness engagement. Reports to Director of Research Strategy regarding all relevant activities. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications

Experience and Education Required Education — Bachelor's Degree in science, communications, business, or related field Experience — 8 years of experience working with relevant extramural grants and contracts in an academic setting, with such experience to include at least 2 years of significant editing and advising responsibilities regarding scientific and administrative components Preferred Education — Master's Degree in science, communications, business, or related field Benefits
