Full-time Start Date: Next year opening KIPP Capital Region is a part of a national network of high-performing public Charter Schools committed to creating joyful, academically excellent, and prepared students with the skills, ability, and confidence to pursue their paths to college, career, and beyond. Located in both Albany and Troy, NY, KIPP Capital Region serves 2,500+ students in grades K-12 across seven schools. KIPP Capital Region is excited to open the first co-ed high school in the region in Fall 2025, initially serving approximately 350 students, with a goal of growing to 800 students by year four. POSITION OVERVIEW
The Director of Student Support is passionate about supporting students at risk of academic underperformance due to emotional, physical, or language barriers, ensuring they succeed in KIPP Capital Region's rigorous academic programs. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinate staff professional development in special education, ELL instruction, and at-risk student services. Identify, train, support, and coach school-based special education coordinators, teachers, and related service providers. Support general education teachers in special education, ELL instruction, and at-risk services. Collaborate with principals to recruit staff in these areas. Support special education coordinators with activities like 'Child Find,' needs assessment, intake reviews, and IEP/504 development. Implement and monitor IEPs and 504 plans, ensuring compliance and effective service delivery. Design curricula and differentiate instruction for students with special needs. Maintain accurate records and reports in compliance with regulations. Foster a culture of order, structure, humanity, and academic rigor. Collaborate across teams to ensure best practices and continuous improvement. Document protocols and practices in special education and related areas. Additional Responsibilities
Perform other duties as assigned by leadership. Participate in efforts to promote anti-racism, equity, and justice. Comply with all relevant laws and policies. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s preferred. Certified Special Education Teacher or Administrator. 4+ years working with students with special needs or ELL. Experience in schools, preferably urban or charter, is a plus. WORK PERKS
