This position will be based out of our Alexandria office at least three days a week. Candidates should be comfortable working on highways and construction sites and be available outside of normal business hours, when needed. We’re seeking a Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Assurance Advisor to proactively drive a safety and environmental culture, while ensuring the implementation of Transurban’s HSE Management System across highway maintenance and construction operations. You’ll join an innovative team, who provides mentoring and technical expertise to supports safe work practices, environmental compliance, regulatory adherence, and continuous improvement. As our HSE Assurance Advisor, you’ll contribute to lasting and positive changes that shape the future of our cities and communities. It’s meaningful, challenging and exciting work. Responsibilities

Monitor and guide HSE behaviors to ensure compliance and drive continuous improvement. Partner with stakeholders to implement assurance plans and support contractor performance. Conduct assurance activities for high-risk tasks including fall protection, electrical safety, vehicle operations, trenching, excavations, and traffic control, ensuring alignment with HSE plans and regulatory requirements. Under supervision, conduct or participate in internal and external audits, including environmental inspections, and support the implementation of corrective actions. Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of HSE Management Plans and supporting programs, including environmental protection plans. Develop and/or deliver sessions to support self-performed work and ensure workforce readiness. Conduct or support incident investigations and guide the development of effective corrective actions, including those related to environmental incidents. Qualifications

Demonstrated experience in incident investigation, training delivery, and stakeholder engagement. Experience delivering safety programs (e.g., Electrical Safety, Lockout Tagout (LOTO), Fall Protection, Hazard Communication (HAZCOM)). Experience within infrastructure, construction, maintenance of traffic and work area protection, preferred. Knowledge of OSHA standards, NFPA 70E, HSE best practices, environmental compliance, risk management, and safety systems. Knowledge of environmental regulations such as the Clean Water Act, EPCRA, RCRA, and CERCLA. Excellent written and verbal communication, leadership, and mentoring abilities. We are open to considering candidates who either reside in the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia) area, are within a reasonable commuting distance to Tysons Corner and Alexandria, VA and/or are willing to relocate at their own expense.
