SCC-SAIIA Construction Co Location & Travel Details:

This is a location-based position encompassing worksites throughout the assigned project area and requires an average of 80%+ travel. A company vehicle and fuel card will be provided. Per diem will be provided to cover travel expenses (meals and lodging).

Responsibilities Preview projects and project sites before work begins to determine safety and environmental related risks.

Develop project site safety plans, EAP (Emergency Action Plan) and training for project sites.

Visit active project sites to assess ongoing work conditions and ensure compliance with project site safety plans and regulations.

Document unsafe work conditions, safety hazards and health hazards.

Collaborate with project management, site supervision and craft workers to develop and implement solutions to safety findings on project sites.

Determine corrective or preventive measures and follow up to ensure implementation.

Manage contractors' safety programs and training; recommend changes for compliance as necessary.

Audit orientation and annual safety training records for compliance.

Conduct investigations of accidents and injuries with interviews, inspections and review of PPE and site-specific gear.

Recommend appropriate disciplinary action when safe work practices are violated by employees or subcontractors.

Provide updates to the Project Manager and Director of Safety on a regular basis.

Ensure all records and reports are up to date and compliant with internal processes and local, state, and federal regulations.

Ensure project sites have appropriate safety equipment.

Manage Safety Specialists at project sites where assigned.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Safety.

Qualifications 5-7 years of construction safety managerial experience or equivalent combination of training and related experience.

Experience and/or training in Excavation, Trenching, and Soil Mechanics preferred.

Knowledge of OSHA and EPA rules, regulations and reporting for construction safety.

Ability to professionally represent the company to external organizations and internal levels.

Effective communication and training skills.

Ability to read, analyze and interpret regulations and procedures.

Strong business judgment and common sense in recommendations and decisions.

Ability to multi-task and manage numerous tasks and projects simultaneously.

Ability to meet deadlines in short time frames.

Strong interpersonal skills to interact with all levels and with vendors, subcontractors, customers, and regulatory agencies.

Ability to handle problems involving several variables in standardized situations.

Supervisory Responsibilities Plan, organize, and manage the work of Safety Specialists as needed to meet organizational requirements.

Provide guidance and monitor performance, discipline, and attendance.

Responsible for professional development of Safety Specialists.

Foster team-oriented communication and engagement; support recruitment, performance management, promotions, retention, and termination activities.

Work Environment Exposed to outside weather conditions; hot/cold and wet/humid environments.

Work near moving mechanical parts and in precarious places.

Exposure to fumes or airborne particles; loud noise levels.

Licenses and Certifications Must have and maintain a valid state driver's license with driving record meeting Saiia risk guidelines.

CSP, GSP, CHST, or STSC preferred.

OSHA 500 preferred.

B.A. in Safety preferred.

Travel

This position is required to travel to job sites up to 80% of the time. The jobsite may be located anywhere in the USA.

Educational Requirements Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.

Bachelor's degree in Safety or related discipline preferred.
