Established in 1985, Hamilton Families is San Francisco's leading service provider to homeless families, offering programs to prevent homelessness, provide shelter, stability, and support children experiencing homelessness. We operate three residential sites: the Shelter Program in Tenderloin, Holloway House in Ingleside, and the Transitional Housing Program north of the Panhandle. These programs provide safe shelter, social services, case management, employment and life skills training, health services, and assistance in securing permanent housing. Reporting to the Children’s and Volunteer Services Manager, the Children's Services Associate (CSA) will plan, organize, and lead activities for children from infancy to teens within our Children’s Services Program. Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Supervise children’s activities including play, snacks, tutoring, arts and crafts, and field trips. Coordinate and oversee afterschool programs, including transportation, activities, homework assistance, and support for children and teens. Maintain safety and cleanliness standards during activities. Develop and facilitate children’s and volunteer events and activities. Manage volunteer communication and evaluate volunteer performance. Communicate with families about children’s opportunities and programs. Model appropriate behavior and life skills, maintain professional boundaries, and ensure confidentiality. Respond to emergencies and participate in staff development and meetings. Coordinate partnerships and on-site programming. Maintain accurate records, documentation, and reports using Salesforce. Transport children as needed, including for school and field trips. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities
12 semester units in early childhood education/development or meet California licensing requirements. 6 months experience in childcare, education, or human services. High School Diploma or GED; additional education in early childhood preferred. Experience working with children and families, especially homeless families, is preferred. Excellent communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office. CPR and First Aid certification within 6 months of hire. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds, sit/stand for long periods, and perform physical tasks. Criminal background check, fingerprinting, and driver’s license required. About the Company
