Overview
Director, Parent & Family Giving position at Michigan Giving. This role focuses on identifying, cultivating, and soliciting parent prospects in the Chicagoland area (and other regions as determined) capable of giving $100,000 or more. This is a hybrid role requiring frequent travel. Reports to: Executive Director, Parent & Family Giving and Student Life. Supervises: N/A. Responsibilities
Major Gifts Fundraising (80%) Advance individual relationships that result in philanthropic contributions Identify, qualify, and manage a portfolio of ~200 prospects with capacity to give $100,000+ Conduct at least 120 personal visits with prospects and donors per year, and participate in a minimum of 20 solicitations per year Gather data, assess prospects, and develop strategies to maximize current and lifetime giving potential Ensure consistent contact, facilitate or make solicitations, and ensure stewardship Develop awareness of social, business, and philanthropic cultures within assigned territories; act as a liaison for the campus community Understand University priorities and articulate a compelling case for support that aligns with prospect interests
Programmatic Support (15%) Lead a subset of the Parent & Family Development Leadership Council and build a peer solicitation program Provide fundraising support to major gift officers across Schools, Colleges and Units; collaborate with campus colleagues to implement strategies; maintain relationships with faculty and administrators Assist the Executive Director with managing the Parent & Family Development Leadership Council and committees; develop communications, meeting content, materials, and volunteer coordination Contribute to short-term and long-term planning for the Parent & Family Giving/Student Life team Collaborate with Planned Giving colleagues to close planned gifts; use DART for donor data management

Qualifications
Baccalaureate degree 5+ years of major gift fundraising experience or relevant experience in sales/marketing in a confidential environment Proven experience with six- and seven-figure gifts or accounts; ability to move prospects through cultivation/solicitation cycle Travel 30-40% of the time (in-state and nationwide); evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed Ability to work with discretion and confidentiality in a diverse university environment Proficiency with donor/prospect information systems and data management Work Arrangement
