Job Description: The Associate Scientist within the Microscopy and Spectroscopy Lab (MSL) team in Manufacturing Sciences and Technology (MS&T) will be responsible for investigations involving physical and chemical characterization of materials such as unknown components or foreign matter in manufacturing processes for cell therapy products. Responsibilities include investigating defective materials like filters, bioprocess containers, tubing, and fittings.
Must Haves:
Bachelor's in Forensic Science or related field; Master's preferred
Experience with analytical and pharmaceutical chemistry, including microscopy, spectroscopy, FT-IR, confocal Raman, SEM/EDX, UV Vis, and NIR
Requirements:
Hands-on experience with spectroscopic techniques such as Raman, Mid-IR, Mass spectrometry for protein identification and characterization
Knowledge of GMP regulations and investigations related to particulates and foreign matter
Experience in forensic or analytical chemistry investigations
Strong scientific, analytical, and troubleshooting skills
Proficiency with scientific software and MS Office suite
High initiative with minimal supervision
Knowledge of cGMPs, FDA, and other regulations
Education: Bachelor's in Forensic Science or related field with at least 5 years of experience; Master's preferred
Duties:
Conduct microanalytical investigations on cell therapy product materials
Support daily lab activities, including supplies and interfacing with facilities
Apply various analytical techniques such as microscopy, spectroscopy, particle sizing, and wet chemistry
Identify and characterize cell-therapy drug products and intermediates
Provide technical support and document investigations in reports
Support defective material assessments and troubleshooting in manufacturing
Additional Requirements: Experience working with blood and animals in lab settings
