We are seeking an entry-level geologist to join our geotechnical engineering team, contributing to geological projects throughout Los Angeles County. Job Title: Geologist Responsibilities Conduct site-specific geotechnical exploration, including drilling, sampling, and logging of borings, test pits, and trenches. Perform landslide and hillside grading assessments and studies. Execute geologic assessments and analyses such as geologic mapping, seismic hazard evaluation, and slope stability studies. Draft geologic maps, cross sections, and laboratory data. Observe and test construction sites. Prepare comprehensive geologic and geotechnical reports. Conduct field inspections and prepare detailed field inspection reports. Develop geotechnical designs and as-graded reports. Perform manometer surveys and analyze results. Research geologic and geotechnical reports at government agencies. Essential Skills Proficiency in geology and geotechnical engineering. Experience with field inspections and geotechnical analysis. Skill in soil sampling and analysis. Capability in testing and evaluating geological data. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in drafting geologic maps and cross sections. Proficiency in preparing geologic and geotechnical reports. Ability to conduct thorough research at government agencies. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Work Environment Approximately 50%-75% of the work will be performed in the field, with the remaining time spent in the office analyzing samples. We prioritize work-life balance and foster a collaborative culture to meet all deadlines effectively. The team size ranges from 3-5 members, ensuring a close-knit work environment. The dress code is business casual, and we offer flexible hours to accommodate field and office duties. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Glendale, California. Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $33.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
