Overview Assistant Director of Planned Giving at Northern Arizona University (NAU) within University Development. The position oversees donor cultivation activities and integrates planned giving into the university's strategic fundraising efforts. The NAU Foundation seeks to diversify funding resources and engage donors in long-term financial planning, including blended gifts and endowments. The position reports to the Assistant Vice President of Planned Giving. This is a hybrid position that may be located at an NAU site (Flagstaff Mountain Campus or Phoenix North Valley Campus) or at a non-centralized site with or without accommodation.

Responsibilities

Fundraising and Relationship Building (50%): Oversee and manage a portfolio of major and planned gift prospects with the potential to support NAU's strategic priorities; annually cultivate, solicit, and steward major and planned giving donors to achieve Planned Giving goals.

Identify planned giving prospects and work with development officers, deans, and campus leadership to secure gifts that support priorities within colleges and units.

Conceptualize and implement planned giving fundraising strategies that enhance and support the university's fundraising priorities.

Collaborate with university partners to secure alumni and friends' planned gift commitments, including bequests, gifts of retirement assets, life insurance beneficiary designations, and charitable gift annuities.

Lead the development of and deliver complex gift agreements, proposals, donor acknowledgements, and customized impact reports.

Assist or lead the development of complex proposals for soliciting planned giving donors, using knowledge from varied sources to ensure accuracy and completeness.

With the Assistant Vice President of Planned Giving, create and execute a strategic marketing plan, campaigns, and audience segmentation to acquire new prospects and retain existing donors. Develop content for multi-channel campaigns and track responses.

Collaborate with division partners on organization and execution of high-profile gift planning events, donor appreciation events, seminars, and workshops.

Ensure the Planned Giving website and fundraising dashboards are accurate and reflect current campaigns and the impact of past legacy gifts.

Provide guidance and support to donor engagement and solicitation activities institution-wide, while preserving and nurturing relationships at the individual and program levels.

Communications and Marketing

Partner with the Assistant Vice President of Planned Giving to create and execute a strategic marketing plan, campaigns, and audience segmentation to acquire new gift planning prospects and retain existing donors.

Develop relevant gift planning content for multi-channel campaigns, website, newsletters, etc., in partnership with Advancement Communications.

Track responses to marketing campaigns, assess their effectiveness, and collaborate with development directors to follow up with prospects.

Collaborate with division partners on organization and execution of high-profile gift planning events, including donor appreciation events, seminars, and workshops.

Ensure the Planned Giving website and fundraising dashboards are accurate, showcasing current campaigns and the impact of past legacy gifts.

Conduct high-level analysis, compile information, and develop gift planning insights and reports.
