This position requires extensive experience in molecular biology, cell biology, immunology and genetics. The position requires the ability to integrate these disciplines in performing laboratory experiments in animal models and in cell culture.

Functional Accountabilities
Responsible Conduct of Research Consistently demonstrates adherence to the standards for the responsible conduct of research. Plans, conducts and manages research projects within federal and institutional regulations and policies under the direction of the principal investigator. Uses research funds and resources appropriately. Maintains confidentiality of data as required. Meets all annual job-related training and compliance requirements. Laboratory Work Performs routine and non-routine tests as directed and required by specific research program. Records and checks results for completeness and accuracy. Performs tasks that may require familiarity with a variety of techniques and equipment. Project Planning Assists with planning specific research procedures and coordinates schedules of tests and procedures. Develops and troubleshoots new techniques and ideas. Proposes alternative experimental procedures for consideration by the principal investigator. Record Maintenance Compiles and helps analyze data and prepares charts, graphs and results of studies. Maintains all required records, reports, statistics, etc. Maintains and updates department policies regarding procedures, objectives, safety, etc. Maintains a log of work performed. Supplies and Equipment Assists in care and maintenance of equipment, supplies and work area. Sets up, calibrates, cleans and performs routine maintenance on specialized laboratory equipment. Sterilizes and cleans glassware and disposes of specimens, media and other materials using appropriate procedures. Literature Searches, Reviews and Reports Compiles information from journals and suggests uses for new techniques to the principal investigator. Attends courses, lectures and conferences to further knowledge of research and laboratory techniques. Writes grants and proposals.
