Overview
Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED) and Miami University have partnered to launch an innovative educational collaboration focused on advancing nursing education in the Greater Cleveland area. We are establishing a multi-institutional nursing education consortium and seeking a visionary, experienced Founding Regional Director of Nursing to lead the development and launch of a transformative Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of nursing education in collaboration with nationally ranked academic health systems and Ohio’s most innovative public universities. The Nursing Program will offer both a traditional four-year BSN and a two-year degree completion track, designed to meet the region’s growing need for highly skilled and compassionate nurses. The Founding Director will play a critical role in building the program from the ground up, ensuring academic excellence, accreditation readiness, and strong clinical partnerships. Principal Functional Responsibilities
Program Development and Launch:
Lead the implementation of the BSN curriculum and program infrastructure in the Cleveland region. Coordinate academic, administrative, and clinical components to ensure a smooth program launch. Ensure alignment with state board of nursing requirements and national accreditation standards (CCNE). Accreditation and Compliance:
Oversee the preparation and submission of documents for state approval and CCNE accreditation. Develop and maintain rigorous program assessment, evaluation, and quality improvement processes. Academic Leadership:
Recruit, mentor, and supervise nursing faculty and staff. Foster a student-centered, inclusive, and innovative learning environment. Support faculty development in teaching, scholarship, and clinical practice. Strategic Collaboration:
Serve as a key member of an integrated leadership team across three partner institutions. Build collaborative clinical education experiences in partnership with the academic health system. Represent the nursing program in academic, professional, and community settings. Operations and Resource Management:
Assist in developing and managing program budgets. Support the acquisition and integration of simulation and digital learning technologies. Ensure clinical site coordination and student placement logistics. Miscellaneous Duties:
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Advanced degree in Nursing or related educational field (PhD, DNP, EdD) or a closely related field (MSN with doctoral coursework may be considered). Active RN licensure in Ohio (or eligibility to obtain). Minimum of 5 years of progressive academic leadership experience. Demonstrated success in developing and implementing nursing curricula. Direct experience with CCNE accreditation and regulatory compliance. Proven ability to lead in collaborative, interdisciplinary, and multi-institutional settings. Excellent communication, organizational, and diplomatic leadership skills. A high-energy, innovative, and collegial style with a passion for advancing nursing education.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience launching new nursing programs. Background in public or mission-driven institutions. Familiarity with simulation-based education and technology-enhanced learning. Strong regional or national professional network in academic nursing.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to utilize a phone, computer and other office equipment.
Department Specific Information
Starting salary range $157,461-$188,954, commensurate with experience.
