Directs and develops entrepreneurial initiatives at HCC by developing partnerships with community partners, serving as a Lead to various programs, and facilitating the development of a culture of innovation and creativity which promotes and grows entrepreneurship in Houston. Essential Functions
Direct, plan and coordinate activities of designated program(s) and expands to local independent school districts. Host entrepreneurial and innovative events, including, but not limited to: maker fairs and hackathons. Promote entrepreneurial activities at HCC, including, but not limited to: Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses Initiative, Teen Entrepreneurship College (TEC), and Minority Business Development Agency. Collaborate with College personnel and Administrative Officers to gather interesting and compelling entrepreneurial stories to promote HCC. Work collaboratively with and in alignment with all HCC Business programs, cluster deans and workforce deans. Collaborate with appropriate District Communications Office staff (HCC-TV, HCC Web, Print and eMedia, and Community Development) to develop consistent and compelling messaging using all HCC and commercial mediums available. Develop and maintain relationships with strategic community partners, and liaisons with Entrepreneurial Office. Serve as liaison with local chambers and districts to build relationships, and promote HCC programs, offerings, and activities. Monitor, research and track legislation which impacts entrepreneurial initiatives and small businesses. Qualifications
Perform other duties, tasks and assignments as required. Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Human Services, Psychology, Communication, Business or related field from an accredited four-year college or university required Master’s degree preferred 5 years’ experience in Entrepreneurship, Small Business, Community Development, Public Relations, Communications, Public Affairs, or similar field required Experience with Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Business Program preferred Licensing & Certification
Valid Texas Driver License Special Skills
