Advanced Practice Provider - Inpatient Transplant Location: Chicago, IL USA. Requisition ID: 1034701. Posting Close Date: October 3, 2025. This is a full-time position in the Transplant department at UI Health (University of Illinois Hospital & Health Sciences System).
Salary information: Base pay range $128,818.00/yr - $157,730.00/yr. Final salary offered will be determined by market data, internal salary equity, candidate experience and qualifications, and budget constraints. Responsibilities
Works within the Bylaws of the University of Illinois Hospital & Health Sciences System and in adherence to hospital and divisional policy. Works collaboratively with other providers in the care of patients. Performs an accurate history and physical examination of patients, develops patient care plans. Performs procedures according to clinical delineation of privileges. Provides prevention strategies and management of acute and chronic health problems. Orders and interprets tests, treatments, and therapies within the scope of practice. Prescribes medications, diet, supplies, prosthetic devices, and other home health aids or medication according to clinical privileges. May provide other clinical duties within the scope of practice as directed under the emergency operation plan. Demonstrates fiscal responsibility to positively impact the financial performance of the organization while ensuring optimal patient care and safety. Integrates evidence-based knowledge and clinical expertise in decision-making. Participates in peer review and competency assessment activities. Establishes an effective relationship with the entire care team. May lead and assist in research and evidence-based practice through participant selection, coordination of protocols, data collection, and related activities. Demonstrates accountability for professional conduct and advances professionalism by developing new skills. Provides comprehensive teaching strategies for patients and their families. May provide education and mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students and current and new employees, including staff, residents, advanced practice providers and nursing. Provides formal and/or informal education or mentorship to internal and external groups pertinent to area of specialty. Demonstrates excellence in written and verbal communication, critical thinking and decision-making skills. Fosters a cooperative work environment and views success as team success. Participates in program development and acts as a resource for clinical staff in the practice setting. Consults with management on assessment, problem-solving, decision-making, and evaluating clinical/system issues and care models. Identifies and participates in quality-improvement initiatives within the practice setting and initiates change as appropriate. Leads multidisciplinary teams to provide integrated delivery of patient care services. May participate in development/revision of protocols or guidelines to reflect evidence-based changes in care management. May participate in activities that influence policy-making bodies to improve patient care. Provides care for post-operative transplant patients on the transplant service. Manages patients in collaboration with Transplant surgeons, intensivists and other Advanced Practice Providers. Performs other related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from a nationally accredited APRN or PA training program. Current National Certification as ACNP-BC, AGACNP-BC by ANCC, OR PA-C by NCCPA, required. Current American Heart Association ACLS certification. Current Controlled Substance licensure required. Ability to meet all requirements for medical staff privileges. Preferred Qualifications
For PA: experience in ICU, Critical Care or Emergency Medicine preferred. For APP: minimum 2 years’ experience as an APRN/PA in a surgical setting; transplant ICU experience preferred. Effective communication skills (oral and written) for collaboration with physicians, APRN/PA colleagues and multidisciplinary teams. Demonstrated leadership, collaboration, education and clinical experience; experience in an academic medical center preferred.
