Overview

Systems & Applications Specialist I Behavioral Sciences Campus (HCPC) role at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth Houston). On-site position at UTHealth Harris County Psychiatric Center (HCPC) near the Texas Medical Center. Provides desktop and basic software support, and technical expertise to departments and users for software, applications, security, and systems issues. Familiarity with audio-visual equipment and video editing is a plus. Must take initiative in resolving user issues and managing equipment. IT professionals with desktop support experience in large organizations are preferred. The schedule is an on-site, traditional shift of 8 am through 5 pm on weekdays. Eligible for UTHealth Houston benefits. Responsibilities

Provide entry-level technical support for software, applications, security, and systems issues to departments and users. Assist with installation, configuration, maintenance, and basic repair of IT equipment (desktops, laptops, mobile devices, printers, software). Perform basic troubleshooting for hardware and software issues (performance, connectivity, security). Provide first-level support to end users, assist with hardware/software inquiries, and offer basic IT training. Maintain IT inventory records, track equipment distribution, and assist with surplus and replacement tasks. Under supervision, conduct routine computer refreshes and software updates to keep systems current and secure. Provide initial support for specialized departmental systems and applications under supervision. Assist with managing and supporting Windows, MacOS, and iOS devices to ensure compatibility with organizational standards. Offer essential support for medical devices in compliance with IT policies. Participate in rollouts, migrations, and upgrades under supervision. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications & Certifications

Good communication skills, both verbal and written. CompTIA A+ by CompTIA is preferred. Education & Experience

Minimum Education: Associate’s Degree required. Equivalent years of experience may substitute for education. Minimum Experience: 2 years of related experience required. Equivalent years of education may substitute for experience. Physical Requirements

Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects. Security & Residency

This position is security-sensitive pursuant to Texas Education Code 51.215 and Texas Government Code 411.094. For the extent required to access critical infrastructure, there are additional qualifications related to security and integrity of infrastructure. Residency: Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas. This role is on-site. Benefits
