Overview Howmet Fastening Systems (HFS) is seeking an EHS Manager at our aerospace manufacturing facility in Fullerton, CA. Summary Responsible for managing programs, policies and practices related to environmental, health and safety compliance, wastewater plant, emergency & evacuation, loss prevention, and workers' compensation. Acts as the facility coordinator and primary contact for internal customers and external agencies for all matters pertaining to Wastewater Plant, and environmental, health & safety. Manages and directs the wastewater plant team.

Performance Objectives

Oversees all aspects of Environmental, Health and Safety administration. Drives proactive safety programs, and promotes positive safety practices and behaviors.

Develops, recommends and implements programs to assure compliance with all applicable local, state and federal regulations including documentation, reporting, permits, manifests, training, and policy development. Coordinates and manages all on-site hazardous materials.

Provides technical support and direction for environmental compliance programs and practices. Oversees the management of wastewater treatment practices and environmental laboratory operation. Manages the ISO 14001 audit process.

Manages all loss prevention and workers' compensation programs. Acts as the primary contact for all employees on accident reporting, investigation and hazard elimination. Tracks all activity for the facility related to lost work time, return to work initiatives, and restricted duty provisions. Coordinates disability related absences with Human Resources.

Develops and administers EH&S training and communication programs (HAZCOM, HAZMAT, confined space, personal protective equipment, SDS, Job Safety Analysis, etc.).

Participates in new hire orientation.

Facilitates contractor safety orientation programs.

Leads and facilitates the plant safety committee.

Prioritizes and directs all facility and maintenance activity. Coordinates workload, scheduling and activities of facilities and maintenance team. Provides direct supervision and manages performance for facilities and maintenance team members.

Acts as the primary contact for facility and grounds security and access. Acts as the emergency evacuation coordinator for the facility.

Interfacing with vendors, external agencies, plant, division and corporate contacts regarding various initiatives, programs and practices.

Demonstrate continual focus on improvements and enhancements.

Helps to ensure that quality and standards for the department are adhered to and maintained.

Assumes other special activities and responsibilities from time to time as required, and adheres to Howmet EH&S, Quality, Continuous Improvements and other Company Policies.

Qualifications Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Safety, Health or Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering or Environmental

5-7 or more years of experience in the field of Environmental, Health and Safety or 5 years of EHS field experience, with managerial and project management experience preferred

Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

This position is subject to ITAR requirements, which requires U.S. person status (U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident, Political Asylee, or Refugee).

Experience and Background:

Minimum of five to seven years' experience facilitating and managing environmental, health and safety programs in manufacturing plus three years managing or coordinating Wastewater treatment facilities.

Broad knowledge of local, state, and federal EH&S programs and regulations. Experience in safety and environmental inspection and audit processes.

Experience in acquiring permits and interaction with regulators is favorable.

Prior experience leading continuous improvement projects and programs is necessary.

Excellent organizational, communication, presentation, and persuasion skills.

Ability to prioritize and complete multiple and diverse work assignments with minimal direction and supervision.

Physical Demands

Must be able to lift/move 30 lbs (per EHS policies).

Must be able to stand for long periods.

Must be able to wear a respirator and safety gear (toe shoes, hearing protection, safety glasses).

Must be able to avoid loose clothing and use ladders as required.

Benefits/Salary This position includes competitive wages and a comprehensive benefits package available day one of hire, including health insurance (medical, dental, vision), 401k matching, paid holidays and vacation. Salary range: $140,000 to $180,000.
