is seeking to hire a
Surface Water Environmental Associate
to work out of our
Santa Ana, CA
office supporting the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) programs throughout California. Our clients include some of the largest agencies, utilities, and private developers in the state. As part of our Water Quality team, you’ll collaborate with, and learn from, industry leaders on assignments that are perfectly suited for a junior environmental specialist. Our team thrives on tackling complex, fast-paced projects in diverse and sometimes remote locations, offering unique professional challenges and opportunities for growth. We seek individuals with a particular interest in construction and a passion for making a real impact on water quality.
The ideal candidate will reside in
Riverside or San Bernardino County
and will be connected to our Orange County office, ready to Make A Difference alongside a highly interactive and supportive team.
Tasks may include:
Data collection, review, organization, and analysis of stormwater reports, inspections, and sampling records
Site reviews, field inspections, and stormwater sampling at construction sites and industrial facilities. Coordination with construction site managers, contractors, and other project personnel will be needed.
Development of stormwater management and compliance plans, specifications, and estimates, as well as preparation of stormwater permits. Plans include Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs), Erosion and Sediment Control Plans (ESCPs) Water Pollution Control Plans (WPCPs), Low Impact Development (LID) Plans, and Water Quality Management Plans (WQMPs). Stormwater permitting will occur under the California Construction General Permit (CGP), Industrial General Permit (IGP), and MS4 permits throughout the region.
Preparation of plans will include the use of drafting and mapping software, such as AutoCAD and ArcGIS.
This position has a notable field component. There will be a need to learn about construction site safety, proper inspection requirements, and proper sampling techniques. Travel predominantly occurs throughout Southern California, but there is the potential for extended hours and overnight stays.
PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sciences or similar required
Coursework or experience with construction site management, erosion and sediment control, water quality, and/or hydrology and hydraulics preferred
0-2 years of experience in surface water or a related field
Qualified SWPPP Practitioner (QSP) certification preferred
Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and Bluebeam
Familiarity with AutoCAD and ArcGIS softwares
Familiarity with mobile data collection
Familiarity with stormwater sample collection
COMPENSATION The approximate compensation range for this position is $55,681 to $81,848. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
