Dobbs Defense Solutions is seeking a Network Engineer to add to our team. The engineer will support a robust, world-wide communications network, providing office automation packages. The engineer will document management tools and collaboration, voice, and video tools in a secure, flexible, distributed architecture supporting a classified DoD IT system. Responsibilities
Review and analyze the existing network architecture and provide designs of current/modern WAN/MAN/LAN technologies Recommend best practices such as SDN, Intent-based networking, and network segmentation protocols to improve the architecture and meet new networking requirements Identify the need for routers, switches, and encryption devices to support enterprise services Deliver service catalog items for automatically provisioning network configurations to deliver Infrastructure-as-Code Develop and maintain network architecture specifications and artifacts Design and plan network communications systems; provide specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture Conduct cost/benefit analyses and provide information for hardware/software selection, implementation techniques, and tools for efficient solutions, including present and future capacity requirements Conduct testing of network designs Monitor network hardware operations to ensure properly set configuration options Plan implementations of enhancements and upgrades to the network Advise network users of hardware requirements, configurations, and limitations Maintain technical expertise in network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing (routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc.) Evaluate and report on new communications technologies to enhance network capabilities Qualifications
Required education and experience:
Minimum of 8 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 6 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 3 years with PhD; 4 years of additional work experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree TS/SCI level clearance is required Minimum 3 years of Cisco experience; proven expertise with Cisco network hardware including routers, switches, firewalls, and unified communications equipment Proven experience in VMware environments Proven experience in virtual and physical IP and Fiber Channel networks and routing protocols Proven experience designing, optimizing, and troubleshooting LAN, WAN and low bandwidth networks protected by network encryptors Information Assurance Certifications consistent with the 8570 IAT Level III Professional certification in Cisco, VMware, and/or ITIL is desired Required Clearance
