Job Title: Low Voltage Lead Technician Reports To: Lead Communications Technician Travel: Required IES is a national provider of industrial products and infrastructure services to electrical, mechanical and communications contracting solutions for the commercial, industrial, residential and renewable energy markets. The Communications Technician II must be able to perform the technical responsibilities of a Cable Installer and function as a lead member of a technical team. The Fiber Network Technician will coordinate small groups of installers in the performance of daily workload including adherence to Company safety and quality standards. Responsibilities
Install a work area outlet for floor or wall (terminate CAT 3 & CAT 5 jacks). Mount face plates and surface mount boxes correctly. Adhere to IES COMMERCIAL labeling standards. Build closets (mount and install backboards, cross connects, racks, patch panels, fiber optic and hardware). Install grounding for racks, equipment and cable as required. Complete all IDC connections (e.g. terminate 110/66 blocks and patch panels). Perform testing: continuity test horizontal and riser cable; use of volt-ohmmeter; troubleshoot opens, crosses, shorts and transpose pairs on horizontal and riser cable; use a tone set. Identify active voice or data circuits. Assist in coordinating personnel and timelines to complete projects; assume responsibility for effective performance of crew and provide necessary training. Fully complete all IES COMMERCIAL paperwork accurately and on time (timesheets, material transfers, work orders, change orders, tool transfers and others as required). Adhere to and participate in all Company, customer and industry quality and safety standards and regulations. Complete other responsibilities as assigned. Min USD $23.00/Yr. Max USD $28.00/Yr. Physical and Mental Requirements
Self-motivated, professional, positive in approach; able to help create, develop and implement project process improvements. Promote the Company culture and mission to employees, vendors, clients and business partners. Act as the Company liaison with customer representatives; possess problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills (reading, writing, oral presentations). Able to work at heights, on ladders, in confined spaces; lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds. Visual and hearing requirements: distinguish colors, read small print, hear and recognize audible signals such as dial tones. Able to travel within branch or regional territories as needed. Regular attendance is mandatory. Tools: Screwdriver (regular and Phillips), drywall saw, torpedo level, tape measure, snips (belt), pliers (needle nose and channel locks), hammer, wrench set, cable stripper, flashlight, gloves, punch tools with 110/66 block blades, tone set, 6/8 position crimp tool. Education, Certification, License, and Skill Requirements
High School diploma or GED equivalency. Minimum of two (2) years of experience in telecommunications or related technical field and ability to supervise others. Proficiency with listed tools and ability to interpret blueprints and project documents, including specifications, reporting and quality requirements. Knowledge of universal communications color codes. Meet Company minimum driving standards. Career Path
