Overview
Hitachi Network Energy Management Engineer role with a Fortune 200 Renewable Energy Client. This position is remote with 25% travel. Location and Timeline
Location: Remote with 25% travel. Length of Assignment: 12 month contract + potential extension or conversion. Hours: Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week. Possibility of OT with permission. Responsibilities
Work on behalf of one of the world’s largest renewable energy developers and builders as a Hitachi Network Manager Energy Management System (EMS) Engineer, ensuring reliable, secure, and efficient operation of transmission-level SCADA and EMS applications during commissioning. Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Hitachi Network Manager EMS applications and real-time databases. Manage SCADA/telemetry integration (RTUs, ICCP links) and ensure data quality for real-time operations. Support network model build and maintenance, including topology processing and connectivity validation. Perform SE/CA/OPF tuning and validation to ensure system reliability and compliance. Develop and maintain operator displays and PSE (Power System Explorer) visualization tools. Execute system upgrades, patches, and failover testing in high-availability environments. Ensure compliance with NERC CIP and internal cybersecurity standards. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Qualifications
Experience: 2+ years of relatable professional experience with EMS Platforms (Hitachi Network Manager EMS preferred; GE e-terra or Siemens Spectrum experience acceptable). Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field. Strong understanding of power system operations, SCADA, and EMS applications (SE, CA, OPF). Hands-on experience with network modeling, telemetry mapping, and database management. Familiarity with ICCP/TASE.2, RTU protocols (DNP3, IEC 60870-5), and EMS front-end processors. Knowledge of cybersecurity practices and compliance frameworks (e.g., NERC CIP). Proficiency in scripting (PowerShell, Python) for automation and bulk data management. Ability to understand electrical schematics and drawings; experience with reviewing drawings packages and OEM specifications. Knowledge of automation protocols (Modbus, DNP3, CAN, OPC, EtherNet/IP, and others) and third-party firm management. Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities; effective stakeholder communication. Physical Requirements / Working Environment
Ability to lift up to 20 pounds frequently. Standing for extended periods; ability to work at a desk in front of a computer monitor for extended periods. Ability to operate a motor vehicle for commuting between locations; willingness to travel as required. Benefits and Other Information
