Senior Engineer, Instrument and Controls
Point Celeste, LA — Plaquemines Parish Facility, Louisiana
This role reports to the Director, Operations Engineering and will be responsible for developing and progressing the Ready for Operations (RFO) activities, ensuring seamless transition of the facility from EPC to the operations phase. The successful candidate shall be a technical SME in the Instrument & Controls Engineering discipline with in-depth understanding of Process Control & Distributed Control System (DCS).
The incumbent shall be familiar with navigating/interrogating the DCS to perform tasks such as tuning loops, initiating control changes using Venture Global LNG’s management of change (MoC) process, implementing Cause & Effect (C&E) and DCS graphic changes, and championing the Advanced Process Control initiative. Expert knowledge in general plant Instrumentation & field devices used in the Oil & Gas industry is required, including:
Distributed Controls Systems (DCS)
Valves & Solenoids
Flow meters
Additionally, this role provides intermediate level Reliability Engineering support to the Operations team with a focus on:
Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA): lead RCFA exercises for failures relating to plant equipment and/or processes
Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM): drive improvements in maintenance practices to achieve a cost-effective and safe robust maintenance strategy
Responsibilities
Serve as a resident company Subject Matter Expert, providing advice and guidance on Instrument & Controls system engineering issues
Provide daily-to-day Instrument & Controls systems support to Maintenance & Operations teams to ensure continued operability of plant equipment
Provide advanced diagnostic support to allow rapid production recovery and support Process Trip investigations
Provide general support to Analyzer issues and prepare summaries with causes and recommendations
Manage Alarm/Trip settings through the Management of Change process
Support Maintenance team for Turnaround planning and execution
Support availability tracking and improve overall reliability of plant equipment; evaluate workflow processes, identify critical spares, and manage spare parts storage and preservation for Instrument & Controls systems
Qualifications
Education and Certifications:
Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Controls, Instrument or Electrical Engineering
A Professional Engineering License or eligibility for registration
Experience:
Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in a senior engineering role with Instrument & Controls equipment in an industrial setting (engineering or operations)
Oil and Gas experience is required, with preference for LNG applications; petrochemical, NGL, cryogenic natural gas processing, or other hydrocarbon processing experience may be acceptable
Strong knowledge of motors, gas turbines (frames & aero-derivatives) and compressors
Additional Skills:
Working knowledge of CMMS Systems
RCFA tools for failure analysis
