Base pay range
$110,000.00/yr - $180,000.00/yr Data Center Engineer - Chicago Area We're looking for a skilled and proactive Data Center Engineer to join our Chicago-based team. This role involves hands-on work with physical IT infrastructure across multiple local facilities. You'll play a key part in maintaining and optimizing hardware systems that support high-performance computing environments. This position offers a dynamic blend of technical challenges and operational responsibilities, ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced, precision-driven settings. Your Responsibilities: Manage and maintain physical IT infrastructure, including servers and networking equipment, throughout their operational lifecycle Perform setup, configuration, and routine maintenance across diverse technical environments Develop and execute structured plans for equipment placement and cabling to support operational efficiency Troubleshoot and resolve hardware issues, coordinating with external vendors when necessary Maintain accurate records of inventory, shipments, and infrastructure documentation Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure reliable and efficient system performance Provide support for local office technology and contribute to broader infrastructure stability What You Bring: Minimum of 5 years' experience in infrastructure or data center operations Deep understanding of server architecture, networking hardware, and storage technologies Familiarity with structured cabling, fiber optics, and diagnostic tools Working knowledge of Linux systems and networking fundamentals; scripting experience (e.g., Bash, Python) is a plus Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently Comfortable handling physical equipment and traveling between local sites as needed Must possess a valid driver's license EOE Statement:
