Overview
We are seeking a full-time
Functional Team Leader
in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for directly managing, coaching, mentoring and creating a positive and collaborative work environment for product owners, project managers and business analysts. We are looking for an individual who is able to assess business needs and work with the product owner and technical team to design solutions that meet the project objective. Ideal candidate must be able to communicate effectively at all levels within the organization, work with stakeholders to define scope and requirements, foster collaboration, focus on team effectiveness, possess adaptive decision making skills, and empower individual team members.
Essential Functions
Partner with the Development Team Lead/team to collaborate on strategic direction and functional solutions to support various enterprise stakeholder needs Provide operational leadership for day-to-day activities and strategic direction Provide the structure under which functional and technical assistance will be provided to both the business units and customers, as required to service production system and data needs Responsible for participating in discovery efforts, platform evaluation and selections in conjunction with development counterparts to determine feasibility of team or functional goals/ objectives Partner with Business Analysts, Enterprise Stakeholders and Development teams to craft solutions and justify project impacts (benefits, risks and dependencies) and return on investment Proactively identify and contribute to the resolution of ancillary discrepancies and conflicts between interdepartmental applications and strategic channels on an enterprise level Manage reconciliation and drive consensus regarding business tactical and strategic direction Actively implement continuous improvement on an enterprise level for business processes and IT business analysis processes Demonstrate quality and effectiveness in documenting work in organized manner in accordance with Garmin and IT standards Champion being solution minded and help encourage that thinking throughout the implementation team(s) Focus strategically on what may be possible with awareness of industry trends and technologies Identify interdependencies between projects and overall business strategies and facilitate aligning them to benefit Garmin Collaborate directly with co-located and remote development team members and business clients Assist Leadership in departmental budgeting and capacity planning Build/maintain high performing team(s) by recruiting, developing, and retaining outstanding talent Promote team member engagement/effectiveness by providing constructive feedback and promoting personal development, including writing and conducting annual performance appraisals Develop/manage team and individual performance and capacity metrics to identify successful operations or areas where improvement is needed, while also working to ensure that all organizational objectives are met Demonstrate ongoing personal development, professional growth, and continuous education Accept, develop and execute projects and other miscellaneous IT & Security duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Business or related field
AND
a minimum of 5 years relevant experience
OR
equivalent combination of education and experience Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule) Previous leadership and facilitation experience Awareness and understanding across a portfolio of applications/ technologies Ability to provide consultation for functional and technical solutions Experience managing the implementation of internet applications (WCM, e-Commerce applications, CRM, Call Center, etc.) Experience with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), Payment Card Industry (PCI), Information Technology Information Library (ITIL), or other regulatory issues Experience with various development and project management methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Kanban, Lean, etc.) Must demonstrate superior analytical skills including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements Understanding the importance of change and consistently viewing change as opportunity Demonstrated in-depth understanding of internet technologies Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills in a cross-functional setting with business partners Must be positive, detail oriented, organized, team oriented and a driven problem solver, multi-tasker, and self-starter with the ability to prioritize and lead in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment
Desired Qualifications
Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5) Certifications: PMI-PBA, CBAP, scrummaster Agile/Scrum methodology experience and/or training Experience with Jira and ALM Understanding of web standards (XHTML, CSS, etc.) Experience with conceptual web application architecture Experience with UX design, emphasis on human factors Experience with multivariant testing and web analytics preferred International communications experience
