Hopper’s Hotel Cancel For Any Reason (CFAR) team is responsible for integrating our proprietary fintech offerings with some of the largest travel companies in the world as well as our own direct to customer offerings. The role is both B2C and B2B2C. We build fintech offerings to scale globally, evolving current and new offerings to deliver customer and business value to Hopper. We are looking for a Senior Backend Developer to join our growing fintech team. You will have the opportunity to deliver an outsized impact on one of the company’s most critical roadmaps. You will be directly responsible for designing, implementing, deploying and operating the complex backend systems that power our integrations. What would your day-to-day look like
Iterate on features in an agile manner using Scala (no prior experience required) and technologies like GCP, OpenAPI, BigQuery, Pub/Sub, among others. Decide how to best build core systems in the context of our microservices architecture. Ship your first code in days, iterating on features in an agile manner. Collaborate with a diverse group of people, giving and receiving feedback for growth. Execute on big opportunities, helping Hopper rise to the top of the travel industry. An Ideal Candidate Has
The ability to bring leading industry techniques and technologies to the table. A strong understanding of distributed systems and how architectural decisions affect performance and maintainability. Experience working in cross-functional teams with Product Managers, Data Scientists, Frontend Engineers, and other specialists. A focus on quality, writing testable code that performs and scales. Ability to work with minimal guidance, be proactive and handle uncertainty, ambiguity, and evolving goals. Prior cloud experience. Experience with Scala and its libraries. Prior travel or eCommerce experience. Experience or interest in contributing to front-end work as a Full-Stack engineer is a plus, especially React web front ends. Perks and Benefits
