Overview

Raytheon is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer to support the Missile Defense Sensors (MDS) department. The MDS team provides subject matter expertise for concept development, architectural design, requirements generation & flow-down, modeling and simulation, systems analysis, integration, test and evaluation of world-class Missile Defense & Sensor Systems. Location: Onsite in Woburn, MA, with potential onsite work in Huntsville, AL or San Diego, CA. Security clearance requirements apply. Responsibilities

Define radar system requirements, design architectures and algorithms in support of those requirements. Collaborate with software development teams to ensure effective implementation. Analyze radar system performance data relative to requirements. Identify performance deficiencies and propose solutions. Define and prototype new algorithms to enhance system performance. Present plans, designs and system performance to peers, internal leadership and external customers. Provide subject matter expertise to agile software development teams to ensure proper implementation of requirements. Contribute in one or more capability areas including: Electronic Protection, signal processing, applied mathematics; Hypersonic threat defense; Tracking, discrimination, search, and battle manager interfaces; Radar calibration, diagnostics, deployed site support; Modeling and simulation of tactical software. Qualifications

Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM preferred) and a minimum of 8 years of engineering experience or equivalent. Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued security clearance; U.S. citizenship is required for the security clearance. Active DoD Secret Clearance or higher. Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Battle Management C2I (BMC4I) systems, radar systems or signal processing techniques. Experience documenting and maintaining processes, methods and tools; ability to develop technical solutions to complex issues. Experience with Matlab, C/C++, Java or DOORS; strong analytic, technical and problem-solving skills. Experience with MS Office Suite and system-level requirements development, documentation and maintenance, or design of system-level software architecture. Experience with radar system concepts, including detection, discrimination, tracking and signal processing algorithms and their performance. Experience developing and coding system models, algorithms, test vectors and analysis tools for radar requirements and performance analysis. Experience and interest in Information Assurance / Cyber Engineering requirements and implementation. Experience with AI/ML in database and algorithm design and enhancement. Onsite role definition: Onsite employees work primarily onsite. Salary range: 101,000 USD – 203,000 USD. Benefits and incentive programs may apply depending on the role and location.
