Overview
ALTA ITS is seeking a Linux Systems Engineer (Tier ll) to work for a government contractor in the Herndon, VA area. This is an exciting opportunity to bring your skills to the table and learn new skills. Requires TS/SCI clearance. Responsibilities
Install, configure, and maintain various technical equipment, including server components and software, manage virtual servers. Supervise & perform troubleshooting of hardware and software issues, running diagnostics, documenting problems, prioritizing resolutions, and assessing risk. Assist with the OEM level design and development of internal solutions to meet customer requirements. Design, test, and implement process and systems automation capabilities to improve overall operational effectiveness and performance. Core Qualifications
Active or current TS/SCI Ability to support short-term international travel. 3-5 years of Linux / Unix system administration experience. 2+ years of direct experience in either or all systems design & architecture, integration & testing, data analysis, and capability development. Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, mathematics, or related field (or relevant experience as substitute). Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting and solving problems in complex systems environments. Qualifications
Understanding of mobile telecom network architectures and related hardware, software, and protocols. Experience working directly with development team to resolve software and hardware problems and applying software and hardware patches. Strong knowledge of networking protocols such as TCP/IP, NAT, routing and switching. Experience with analyzing logs, stack traces, debug libraries, software/hardware. Possesses an understanding of Python, Bash, SQL databases. Create installation guides and as-built documentation. Experience with Linux firewall and VPN configuration
