This role is based in our facility in Lynchburg, Virginia and reports to the Director of Engineering. Job Summary The Application Engineer provides technical support, driven by customer and internal requests, related to the selection, installation and codified usage of fittings and related offerings within the company’s product portfolio. Provides product validation, troubleshooting and root cause analysis expertise related to field and internal manufacturing issues. Acts as a key bridge in linking customer needs to potential new or adaptive technical solutions as a participant in the product development process. Principal Responsibilities
Provides technical support to customers, field engineers and internal customer service team members to ensure the accurate selection of products. Develops a deep understanding of industry and regulatory requirements, enabling the linkage of Harco/IPEX product functionality and capabilities to specific applications. Participates actively in the analysis of warranty claims and identifying the root cause. Develops training materials for both internal and external customers to improve the understanding of how to effectively select and use Harco/IPEX products and systems. Provides support in the preparation of technical presentations and proposals. Analyzes and troubleshoots product applications where existing product installations are not meeting customer expectations, collaborating with internal engineering and sales teams to provide more efficient and effective solutions. Maintains awareness of pending changes regarding the regulatory and competitive technology landscape. Supports new product development projects by providing engineering expertise and competitive insights. Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering discipline P.Eng. designation preferred Minimum 5 years in a product, manufacturing or application engineering environment Strong understanding of industrial product and materials regulatory requirements (PPI, AWWA, ASTM) General knowledge of field installation methods and equipment Prior knowledge of plastic fittings or pipe is desirable Experience in R&D and new product development Knowledge of injection molding processes is desirable Basic CAD viewing/manipulation skills are desirable Organized project management skills capable of planning, implementing and monitoring complex projects Harco Fittings is committed to providing accommodations for people with disabilities throughout the recruitment process and, upon request, will work with qualified job applicants to provide suitable accommodation in a manner that takes into account the applicant’s accessibility needs due to disability.
