Overview
Amazon is looking for a highly analytical Data Engineer to join the AWS Data Center Engineering team. The Data Center Engineering team owns the availability of AWS data centers, and has a direct impact on the customer experience. We obsess over customers by developing the most advanced engineering solutions that result in world class uptime, while continuously reducing costs for our customers. The role partners with Business Intelligence Engineers and partner teams to build data pipelines and solutions to harness the vast amount of operational data from the AWS fleet, ensuring timely delivery of data for downstream business intelligence and decision making. Key responsibilities
Collaborate with Business Intelligence Engineering team members, engineering stakeholders, partner technical teams, and business stakeholders to gather business and functional requirements and translate these into a robust, scalable, and operable data infrastructure aligned with the AWS data architecture. Develop a deep understanding of operational data from the AWS fleet and build mechanisms for retrieving and aggregating such data for use by downstream BI solutions. Understand our data sources and provide continuous recommendations to solve specific business problems. Own data reliability by performing deep-dives to identify root causes of data anomalies and taking corrective action. Continuously optimize the performance of data queries and ETL procedures. Adopt best practices in reporting and analysis to ensure data integrity, test design, validation, and documentation. Basic Qualifications
3+ years of data engineering experience 3+ years experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines Preferred Qualifications
Experience with AWS technologies such as Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, EMR, Kinesis, Firehose, Lambda, and IAM roles/permissions Experience with non-relational databases/data stores (object storage, document or key-value stores, graph databases, column-family databases) Equal Opportunity

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $118,900/year to $205,600/year, depending on location and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company and may offer additional benefits such as equity or sign-on payments as part of a full package.
