Overview
Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer/Sr. Principal Systems Engineer in support of the Sentinel program. This opening is in Huntsville, AL or Colorado Springs, CO and will support the Sentinel Program. U.S. citizenship and active DoD Secret Clearance are required. Relocation assistance may be available. Travel: Yes, 10% of the time.
What you will do The selected Principal Systems Engineer/Sr. Principal Systems Engineer will be on a team supporting activities including use case development, requirements definition/allocation, functional decomposition, interface definition, verification & validation, and requirements traceability. Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
Collaborate with program IPT counterparts to develop supporting systems engineering and design artifacts.
Work with technical teams and stakeholders to develop and mature architecture content of large programs design.
Help develop and incorporate the appropriate requirements for the system and ensure that they are properly represented in the model.
Develop systems architecture using Cameo Enterprise Architecture (behavioral, structural, analytical).
Contribute to system requirements development, management, and analysis.
Develop unifying model techniques, procedures, and processes (for model development, tool integration, and team integration).
Qualifications
Principle Systems Engineer
- BS in STEM with 5 years related experience; 3 years with a Master’s; 1 year with PhD.
Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance (investigation date within last 6 years).
Must be able to be screened for Enhanced Security Clearances within a reasonable time.
1+ years of experience with requirements management/analysis/allocations.
1+ years of experience with Model-Based Engineering / MBSE practices, languages, and/or tools such as Cameo, Rhapsody or MagicDRAW.
1+ years of experience with one or more of: C2, physical security, cybersecurity, communications systems, facility design, military aerospace development.
Sr. Principal Systems Engineer
- BS in STEM with 8 years related experience; 6 years with Master’s; 4 years with PhD.
4 years of experience in Aerospace, Software, Computer, and/or System Engineering.
2+ years of experience with requirements management/analysis/allocations.
2+ years of experience with MBSE practices, languages, and/or tools such as Cameo, Rhapsody or MagicDRAW.
2+ years of experience with one or more of: C2, physical security, cybersecurity, communications systems, facility design, military aerospace development.
Experience with DOORS (preferred).
Experience in SysML or UPDM modeling languages; DoDAF/UAF or other modeling frameworks.
Experience modeling with Cameo Enterprise Architecture, MagicDraw, or other architecture modeling tools.
Experience using tools to model large systems with multiple developers.
Experience in software and/or hardware design; documenting Interface Control Documents, Interface Requirement Specifications, and Interface Description Documents.
Experience in the military aerospace development environment; experience with weapon systems; exporting documentation from model-based environments.
Experience with Agile Development and ICBM weapon system sustainment engineering and integration.

The position’s standard work schedule is 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees to work nine-hour days Monday through Thursday and take every other Friday off.
Salary Primary Level Salary Range: $100,300.00 - $158,000.00; Secondary Level Salary Range: $124,900.00 - $196,700.00. This range is a general guideline; base salary offers depend on scope, responsibilities, candidate experience, education, skills, and market conditions. Eligible for overtime, shift differential, and discretionary bonuses where applicable. Long-term incentives may apply for VP/Director roles.
