The Impact You Will Have

The Underwriting Analyst is an entry-level opportunity within the Affordable group who works closely with an Underwriter to support detailed reviews and perform due diligence for our Affordable transactions. The Analyst will interact with W&D affordable production teams and clients to process multifamily property and mortgage credit information, and is critical to supporting property owners through the financing process. This is a great opportunity to gain valuable real estate finance experience with a talented team. Primary Responsibilities

Underwrite and perform due diligence for multifamily housing products and transactions Input income and expense statements in order to determine maximum loan amounts Conduct initial reviews of market areas, property and site characteristics Complete initial review of borrower and management qualifications Learn methodology for building up Proforma income and expenses Understand Part III of the DUS Guide and periodic updates on an on-going basis in order to cultivate continuous improvement Conduct site visits to assess the condition and quality of multifamily projects, their management, and their marketplaces Order and review third-party Appraisals, Engineering Reports, Seismic Reports, Phase I Environmental Assessments and Operations and Maintenance (O & M) Reports Maintain organized and fully documented Underwriting Files and maintain database on specific deals Assist in the crafting of the DUS Narratives for submission to Chief Underwriter Work with Asset Management, Production, Closing and others as appropriate to closely monitor the performance and help develop and regularly refine benchmarks and metrics for evaluating the performance of the portfolio Communicate and problem-solve daily with teammates, clients, vendors, and other stakeholders, often in combination with travel Other skills related to building a career in Underwriting Perform other duties as assigned Attendance is generally required from 8:30 am - 5:30 pm local time, Tuesday through Thursday, with the option to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays. Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree (Business or Finance Degree preferred) Previous experience within the real estate industry is preferred Able to demonstrate an understanding of the history and function of Fannie Mae, Fannie Mae DUS, and DUS Lenders Able and willing to travel overnight up to 25%. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

A high level of computer proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) Demonstrated analytical skills with the ability to evaluate data quickly, make decisions based on imperfect data, and take action in order to assist the Team in moving its transactions forward Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills with strong work ethic to meet daily challenges of a fast-paced environment Demonstrated ability to develop and execute solutions to complex issues and transactions Ability to show ownership of your work, take on challenges and acknowledge growth opportunities, and demonstrate patience when learning new processes Courtesy, respect, and thoughtfulness in teaming with colleagues and other stakeholders This position has an estimated base salary of $65,000 - $70,000 plus a discretionary bonus.
