Balchem is looking for a Cost Accounting Manager. This role reports directly to the Sr. Supply Chain Finance Manager and will have three direct reports. Responsibilities include leading close activities for manufacturing sites, cost containment actions, and driving accountability to targeted commitments. The individual should have an eye toward continuous improvement, leveraging technology and other solutions to automate and scale processes to enable strategic decisions. Excellent critical thinking, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and attention to detail while understanding the bigger picture are required. Essential Functions
Provide strategic financial analysis on Supply Chain impact to the P&L, Balance Sheet, and key performance indicators Oversee monthly close activities, including SOX compliance, variance analyses (plant spend, purchase price, production), and balance sheet reconciliations Prepare, post, and review journal entries; maintain accurate documentation in financial system Support monthly forecasting, with a focus on variance analysis for plant operations Contribute to annual budgeting, operational planning, and cost estimation for new products, including overhead structure analysis Partner cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Accounting, and Finance teams to support data-driven decision-making Supply internal and external audit teams with information and analysis for annual audits and quarterly reviews as required Support year-end physical inventories; prepare roll-forwards, as required Manage, mentor and develop team members to support performance Ad hoc projects as requested by management Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance 5-7 years of directly related Finance experience within a manufacturing/supply chain organization Previous supervisory experience Experience with standard costing methodologies preferred Strong Excel Skills, Microsoft Office suite, Power BI a plus Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving abilities Aptitude to succeed in a competitive and deadline-oriented environment Solid understanding of Information Systems/ERP Systems Balchem is committed to a workplace culture that values and promotes diversity, inclusion, equal employment opportunities, and a work environment free of harassment and hostility.
